anyone else had the problem where someone thinks they're being funny and insulting you, and they cross the line and get other people to join in? i dont get mad easily, i can roll with the punches. but this guy needs a nosebleed and a broken rib for saying stuff he's said. and on top of that, this guy's such an idiot and so weak i dont want to beat him up because i feel sorry for the *******. anyone else get pissed from these people?

To be quite frank, no, I do not have this problem. I don't give a rat's ass what other people think of me, and this is apparent to those around me. If someone insults me, either alone or with a group of people, they don't get the response that they want and the line of conversation quickly changes to something else.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but it sounds like your self confidence partly depends on the approval of those around you. The guy who insulted you and "crossed the line" knew this about you, and was getting his jollies by upsetting you. Before you let someone's comment get to you, ask your self if it really matters what they think of you.

If it really and truly doesn't matter to you what those people think of you, and they still insult you despite how you react, they probably aren't worthy of your time or anyone else's time. If this is the case, tell the first guy to his face that he's behaving like a child and hence is not worth spending time with, and then walk away without looking back.

Sorry to hear that m8. Some primitive people just get their luz from trying to belittle other people. It's a sign of a small mind, you know. Basic primate behavior-- pack members showing aggression to each other to try to establish comparative rank. Luckily, there a few thinking people around who have transcended that sort of primal, primitive psychology.

I worked for two years in an environment that exposed me to that kind of person; I quickly learned to grow a thick skin and press on.

Unfortunately, it takes all kinds to run a world, and one of those kinds is of the Lawful A-Hole alignment. Not much you can do, sadly.

Having started working in my youth in construction, I acquired quite a thick skin (and ****ing filthy dialect...). Difference here is that if somebody actually didn't like you, they were up front about it. If insults were just being thrown back and forth, that was our way of... socializing.

Like others said, it's likely that he's getting a rise out of you, and he gets a boner for it. Or something like that. I'd pity him, personally.

In every case where I have had my balls busted, everybody was heavily armed, but oddly enough, nobody ever thought of hurting anybody.

You'd (if you were conditioned by television and school) think the opposite would happen.

(Note: this was not in a police or military setting either - so we are not state-paid exalted ones who many foolish people would trust as the only people to bear arms )
