ok to use T2 combat drones you need the spec skill in all cases but sentry drones

if you look at the spec skills it says

so does this mean T1 drones wont get a bonus on damage modifier? i think this is the case but i dont care about T1 drones as i dont use em anyway Cool

what about the sentry drones? they are a advanced drone as it is T2 i guess but no spec drone skill is required so do they get the bonus yes or no?

If the T2 drone has the specialization skill as a prerequisite, then it affects that drone.

…in fact, that goes for all “specialization” skills: if a piece of equipment has the skill as one of its prerequisites, it will receive a bonus from the skill; if it doesn't, it won't.

This general rule means you can see some (apparently) non-T2 stuff that receives bonuses from what you'd assume to be T2 skills, as well as T2 stuff that doesn't receive those bonuses. For instance, the ‘Augmented’-series drones are not T2 (just high-meta, similar to faction gear), but require and receive bonuses from the drone spec skills. Contrast this with the T2 Sentry drones which are T2 (duh…) but which don't receive the drone spec bonus.

Nah… what's ridiculous is how omgzwtfpwnsome the T2 sentries are even without any spec skill helping them. P

Yep, CCP has admitted they messed it up when they released the T2 sentries.

T2 sentries should require racial drone spec 4 just like heavy drones. Maybe no add damage but say tracking/optimal would be a neat bonus.
