loot items Restricted access

I did some searching around on the forum first and could find nothing on this.

I was in null sec and saw a few wrecks near a gate that had loot but they were yellow. When I tried to loot them it showed the wreck as being empty however there was a yellow box around my loot window. When I hovered over the wreck it said "contains loot items Restricted access".

I've been playing this game for years and I always thought that anything that dropped was lootable by everyone in the game. Since when can a wreck contain items that only certain people can loot?

There's nothing stopping you from taking it other than your safety level.

Change it to yellow or red. Be advised you will be flagged as a suspect since those items are not yours and you are basically stealing them. Blink

Ok that makes sense but now I have a different confusion. I've lived in null sec for years. Several years ago CCP removed ownership of wrecks in null sec. I can tractor or MTU someone else's wrecks and have been able to for years. Now that we mention it I don't think that I've seen a yellow wreck in years.

So has there been a change to wreck ownership in null sec? Or is this just some really rare wreck that I've not seen before. It was a player wreck not an NPC but still I've not seen a yellow wreck in years be it player or NPC.

And by the way thanks for your help on this.

He was in nullsec.

Safety setting is irrelevant as nothing makes you suspect or criminal in nullsec, so you can always perform any action anyway.

Haven't noticed that myself OP. Might be a bug worth reporting next time it happens.

It would be better if the safety system, instead of blocking you the way it does, just gives you a popup of a gif of the Dennis Nedry Dance from the first Jurassic Park movie...

Either that, or that idea needs to be tied to hacking somehow at least.Twisted

Yeah, the safety system is meant to shield newer players unfamiliar with the mechanics behind aggression and suspect systems and timers from unknowingly committing an action that could land them in some serious trouble without intending to. Personally, I disagree with it as I don't see it any different that making high sec a PVP free environment, only making high sec PVP free is just a much bigger step in that direction than some safety button. It is what it is I guess, though.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
