Unease about Drifter Threat on the Rise ?

News from Isseras reaches Gutter Press, from a conference on the nature of the Drifter Threat that has raised it's head in recent months, attempting to answer the many questions that the scientific community has regarding the Drifters.

Foremost amongst the investigation by the Arataka Research Consortium, are the investigators from Itsukame-Zainou Hyperspatial Inquiries, who spoke with Gutter Press about the findings of their comprehensive analysis of Drifter materials.

Informative !

Gutter Press asked whether the Drifter Threat could be neutralised, in a permanent sense, or whether they could only be managed, requiring constant intervention to keep them under control.

The response, from Makoto Priano, was that there is as yet, insufficient information to make that determination.

Inconclusive !

Reaction to this news from the citizens of New Eden was uneasy:

"They've only really attacked the Amarr so far, but what if they don't stop there?", asked a Starsi vending machine repairman.
"We have to hit them hard, and do it without delay", said one Civire Caldari Navy veteran. "Crush them once and for all"
"If they can only be managed, then that means an increase in taxation, and a lowering of living standards to pay for the upkeep of the Navy forces required for containment", said a Deteis businessman.
"They're so alien, even more so than Gallente", said an Achuran exotic dancer.

Unease amongst citizens and decision makers about the Drifters is showing no sign of decreasing.

Wow...this almost sounds kinda accurate.

Did I wake up is some mirror universe where the GP produces news stories?

Truth kids. This is a bad thing we're all involved in here.

How informative, and less wall-of-texty than I expected.

Let's talk about more important things, Gutter Press. Is it not true that Shirley Serious has been abducted by Samira Kernher and taken to a secret dungeon below the lair of Molok the Deceiver, Samira's consort? Why is Gutter Press suppressing this information from the public?

I heard that Samira Kernher has abducted Shirley, and is keeping her prisoner in the Kernher Pleasure Fortress, which is full of frilly pillows and embroidered things.

This Pillow Palace is probably somewhere in Ardishapur space.

Well, damn. Kinky little Sami can no longer be my least favorite member of my least favorite organization. Why did you have to bring this Truth to light, New Prophet Nauplius? And... you've been a little bit not entirely yourself, lately, dining with exotic Gallente dancers... and...

YOU ARE POSSESSED! BY JOVIAN DEMONS! OUT! OUT FOUL SPOT!

I am certain this is that revenant Viriel's fault...

CLAUDIA! DARLING! We are in the same coalition! KISSES! Or at least we will be in the same coalition now that I am actually almost on good terms with the Matari horde! Do you know JBB? I just want to pinch his adorable little cheeks so badly!

Please refrain from referring to the Minmatar as a "Horde", it makes them sound barbaric when there anything but....

Being not-barbaric isn't all it is cracked up to be. What has civilization done for Mankind, exactly? Nothing but explosions and more explosions. It is time for the Golden Horde to put an end to all of that! Or at least pile up the bodies. I am convinced that a great pillar of ruin, thrusting, higher... and higher still... until it pierces the very halo of Heaven Itself is the path of True Salvation for our benighted species.

I think you're confusing the definitions of "Civilization" and "Barbaric" there luv. Civilization has given us a structured way to coexist and rules with which we can practice our predisposition toward barbarism without destroying ourselves completely.

Well, now, isn't that cute? "Barbaric" as a pejorative was coined by the "civilized" to denigrate societies which they view as more "primitive" than themselves, typically based upon criteria determined by the "civilized" to blow their own horns. People who place overly much stock in the merits of "civilization" are tools. Don't be a tool, darling. "Barbarians" are fully capable of existing within ordered societies that manage to not destroy themselves.

On the subject of destruction, moreover, people who fail to recognize the merits of destroying a hopelessly corrupt system are tools. Again, don't be a tool, darling. You are better than that.

You're right in saying that the criteria for being barbaric is subjective, as is the criteria for what makes one civilized. Which means this conversation is one that could go in circles for a long time, and I just logged into eversummer Online, so I'm going to go sit in the main hub and mock people for playing any other game....

Indeed! I haven't heard so much as a whisper of this in the more popular outlets, let alone such a succinct digest of it. Why, we haven't heard about Drifters at all since... well, since the Amarr flocked to their capital last year.

CONCORD too have been notably silent on the issue.. What if...

What if CONCORD is cooperating with the Drifters? There was no response when the Seraph and the leader of the largest population in the cluster was attacked, yet they appear in SECONDS when a criminal tries to bring down a transport ship.

CONSPIRACY!

I've always known this. The best thing to do is to have a safe place to go when CONCORD and drifters finally unify against us.
