Agreed. The myth of "trade secrets" on this forum is pretty amusing.

No there are plenty if legit trade secrets.
The game is loaded with profitable niches. If you were to mention them on the forum they would quickly cease to be profitable - thus they are a secret.

Its not that they are extremely complex or hard o find - its just that no one tends to fins them given the modest at best intensity with which we play the game for the most part.

Nobody denies the existence of valid "trade secrets." I think the idea is that this "trade secret" mentality is called on far too often as an excuse to keep mum on MD, largely in service of ego. A lot people want to craft the image that they're involved in a lot of hush-hush, top secret stuff, when really, if you could see what they were up to, it would likely be all too mundane.

You are partially right. Ego is a main driver however there is validity to being mum on your own projects. People here will immediately go out with the full intent of stealing your opportunity. Nothing egotistical about it, it is historical.

If it can be done, it will be done.
If it has been done, it will be done again.

This, there hasn't been anything really exciting or rage-inducing for a while. Oh Bad Bobby, where have you gone.

Most of the top 100 posters in the forums took "extended break" after the spring expansion.

I'm just passing thru. Sniffing around to see if the last patch moved the EVE in the "right direction" for considering a return after the fail cascade in the spring.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

Same.

I am about to achieve the last bit in another MMO before I am maxed and have got all the best stuff available and have nothing left to do.

Now after the huge fiascos and customer spit-in-face of this summer (beginning with the STEAL of 2 months worth of my subscriptions) and the drop in playerbase I predicted many months ago (including graph on Akita's thread), I wanted to check EvE out for a bit and see if they changed their ways.

@Shar
Many galactic hugs!

I think I am one of the path-finders, I tried to introduce many new things in EvE, some succesfully, some not.

The obtuse hostility and unchecked trolling certainly don't encourage people sharing their ideas.

Though inventing things is the number 1 motivator for me to play this game. Seeing multiple insurance contracts WORK was awesome, seeing the first charity WORK was incredible. Gaining 30% of my whole NAV by not playing till yesterday was easily predicted by basic market analysis but still nice.

But in the end, who wants to read the rants of a blonde Minmatar?
