Minor logging change to reduce the amount of logging.

My experience of this:

- open the eve launcher
- it says there's an update
- click ok
- dos window opens
- some time later the dos window and the launcher close
- nothing happens...
- i open the eve launcher again
- it says there's an update
- click ok
- dos window opens
- dos window closes
- launcher restarts
- done

So it did update successfully the second time? It's not clear to me from your post.

If not, look in task manager and make sure there are not extra instances of evelauncher.exe running. The updater can't overwrite the evelauncher.exe if it is running, so if evelauncher.exe for some reason takes too long to shut down, or if there is an earlier instance somehow lingering around, it may not succeed with the update.

Worst case, try rebooting your machine, see if that breaks it out of the update cycle.

Just dropping a note the DL for this version hung and timed out today. Usual DNS shenanigans with AWS, fixed it by swapping to ISP's local DNS (i.e. not Google's).
Unfortunately, login authentication by the EVE client hung when trying to log. Swapped it back to Google's DNS and it went back to normal.

Juggling act needs to stop.

I agree, but I can´t fix the Internet. You could help by contacting your ISP, explaining your situation. I can then help by providing whatever information they ask for.

Took me 4 tries but I finally grabbed it. I was using Google DNS at the time.

Fair enough, however ISP troubleshooting more often end up as a complete waste of time - involving player, ISP tech support and CCP support.
As long as I can resolve these issues via DIY myself, it's no biggie. Blink

If these issues keep popping up, then CCP's AWS infrastructure is unreliable. I'm not a specialist in that field but sheer common sense tells me if you have an infrastructure that flakes off and is sensitive to client DNS changes, then it's unfair to wholly attribute faults to "the internet" or the ISP. Question is, are there any fallback redundancies if client can't connect to AWS farms in certain geo regions? Is the launcher and client intelligent enough to switch to next closest geo location or even a direct IP only server? ... etc etc.

P.S. Several people that I know also had login isssues today, they come from different geo regions.

I believe there were some intermittent authentication issues today - it may have been a coincidence that it was fixed at the same time as your DNS change.

could we have a different background image in the launcher, please?
as i understand it, many people were upset about skill trading. getting reminded of it on each login seems to me to be a bad pr move, and feels more like being shown the middle finger every time i log in :/

You sound like you're being triggered. Honestly, I don't understand what the big deal is about skill injecting. It doesn't affect my game in any form whatsoever. I'm content to mine, rat, and PvP in null. You don't like the service CCP added to the game? Don't use it. What's that phrase that everyone loves to tote on the forums when someone doesn't like something CCP did?

That's like saying "I feel triggered every time I see something Amarrian when I log on, because some Amarrian touched me in my nono box one time with a laser"

If something like a background image had to change every time someone got butthurt over something they didn't like in this game, CCP would have to employ a whole new "PR Butthurt" division to handle graphic changes.

Is it intentional that the launcher loads the previous build's layout (with the narrow ads at the bottom) and then reloads the new layout with the big ad and dev blog list at the bottom?

Please give us the option to minimize/close the Latest News and the advert images box to the right. I don't mind seeing them the first time I open the launcher but having it open at all times is really annoying.

I want to resize my launcher to be more compact and only have my accounts showing for easier access but those two things are taking like 50% of the width/height and it's just clutter/annoying.
