MMO's unfortunately by their very nature attract scum that like to use the anonymity to expunge their hatred they are too scared to express in the real world.

Some people don't get to play a game at all. What can they hate?

I think it's a projection issue. There's a lot of reason to hate a lot of real people in real life for the many horrible things people are doing and getting away with from starting wars for profit to busting out the economies and futures of entire nations.

But since people are powerless to do anything about that - or think they are - it's easier to go into a virtual world and be outraged at MINIMUM RISK and with anonymity too.

I resent and reject your bigoted stereotyping. Why I will have you know that some of my best friends are hi-sec players.

Welp, had a comment, got "ganked" logging in and then the post was lost after. +1 for new forums!!! P

OP is right thogh. there is a lot of hate in EVE. It's always been the digital version of the backstab but now it's just angry. It seems the damage done over the past 18+ months runs much, much deeper. The payer-base is broken. EVE can't fix that.

Obviously the solution is to remove highsec.

There are three groups of people in EVE.
1) the HS haters, who seem to want every HS player to be purged from the game (not realizing that there go their easy targets).
2) the null haters: most of them talk about banning ganking and such
3) the ones in the middle who ROFL at the duality of EVE politics.

It is immortality which causes drop of morality. Look at them after another 6 years - they'll be totally insane, demonlike, venomous despots.

Only carebear stare and mining can make people okay again.

Group 2, which I belong to, is the "Leave me alone" group. We don't hate null space - have at it. You can be killing each other out there all you want, 24/7.
What group 2 wants is a safe haven, a part of the space safe from other players, at all times. We're tired of the hate and the killing, especially pointless killing followed by mocking. I'd ban anybody who ever chatted the word "tears" to anyone.

It's easy to tear stuff down; it's much harder to build and protect.

And that's why people hate group 2. You join a PvP sandbox, and then demand to have a 'safe haven'.

Not when you have NPCs to protect you it isn't.

Sounds like you're playing the wrong game, mate...

You get used to it after a while. Empty vessels make most noise etc.

The game design had racism built into EVE right from the start, with Amarr imperialism and Minmatar slaves etc. But playing styles are now the dominant differential so (FW apart) the in-game discrimination has become carebears vs griefers.

Well from what I can tell, the hi-seccers are mad at the low/null-seccers because if they wander into low/null-sec they'll get killed.

Apparently, this has made the low/null-seccers angry at the hi-seccers because the hi-seccers won't come to low/null-sec where the low/null-seccers have gank-fleets sitting at jump-gates waiting for so much as an Ibis to attempt to wiggle through, then all jump on it so they can lord their superior skills over them.

I'm sure if all the hi-seccers would just waltz into low/null-sec in single-file lines carrying as much loot as possible then that would make the low/null-seccers happy.
