Just reactivated my account after being gone for a 1.5 years. First thing I did was turn off the new camera and map (though I might try the map again). I did not like the new camera so I am sad to gear we will be losing the old one. I want my tracking camera, that was one of the best changes they made to the cameras system when they introduced it a couple of years ago.

I also don't understand why CCP needed to change the icons on the dashboard. I have no idea what anything does anymore. Seems like the UI could have been updated without changing all the icons.

Oh, you will get used to the icons, at least for PvE. The small triangles are frigates or destroyers and the big thing like an arrow are BS and require big guns; eveything else is whatever and you use small guns on it. (Yes, I'm still not sure of how do cruiser and BCs look like, but for a PvEr, the only relevat info is "should I shoot the big guns or the small guns?")

EVE players love change. Good change that makes sense, adds features and content that don't detract from existing features and content that we have and use extensively, we're not complaining about that. Citadels are pretty awesome, still sceptical about skill packets, but this camera is terrible. It's a bad change that takes more away than it adds by virtue of taking away what many players found to be an exceptionally intuitive camera system, and replacing it with stuff that many of us don't want or will ever use.

When you assert something like "eve players hate change", you'd better be able to back it up. Ie, show me all the posts I ever made complaining about every change that EVE has experienced, or get out with your moronic attempt to get some attention.

...and what about the issues of motion sickness that some of us face? I hope CCP doesn't just arbitrarily remove the old camera system and thereby render the game unplayable for those that are affected by this.

That would be an issue the team working on the camera has to address. I am not part of that team.

I will say that they are working to address concerns raised in the appropriate feedback thread for camera changes. I recommend posting your feedback there if you would like to help guide where they're headed on it.

Nausea is mentioned in post 2 in the feedback thread.

Unfortunately many of the concerns raised in that thread have yet to be acknowledged much less addressed. It leads to much confusion and consternation.

Except for the fine members of our community team, posting on these forums is not a core part of our jobs, and it often takes time away from the work we're paid to do.

When you do see a developer respond on an issue, it's because they're personally motivated to engage in that way, and different developers feel differently comfortable doing so. I'm posting this message at 4:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning, and there's no reward, other than hoping that, by doing so, I can help you set your expectations reasonably.

Reading feedback is different.

So, don't expect to be individually thanked for your feedback, but do expect that when you post in a place developers have asked for feedback, even if you don't see a developer tag later in the thread, it'll be heard.

Whether the developer then makes the change you'd like to see is another matter, but you can be sure it'll be a question of where their professional judgment leads them, and not just arbitrary.

Appriciate the shared passion we have for eve. I'm really sick atm, but im here, reading and hoping that sharing the information about you guys removing the camera gets out there. Some of the local GD population tends to focus on thew wrong thing, and love trolling about it. But, well, it keeps the thread alive ,a nd People that didn't know about the old camera beeing removed, gets a chance to head to the feedback thread and voice their opinion about this.

I think CCP should publish offically an exact date the old camera gets removed. The way it was handled, by mentioning it in a arbitrary sentence in a dev blog, it didnt registrer for alot of players. Many persons that I meet ingame, or talk to in rl that have read the devblog, was suprised that the old camera is beeing removed. Especially when you get the feeling, you have just moved a feature out of the "experimental" category.

As i don't like the new camera functions yet, i'm afraid 9th of March wont be a good day for me as i have a birthday 9th of March.

CCP, this wont be a good birthday present if you can't fix the new camera before that day.

i just had to write something here because i couldn't figure out how to delete my post. and yeah the new camera is stupid because I'm used to the old one and i hate it when things that work just fine are upgraded to new and improved and then they actually suck. it kind of reminds me of "1984" when the government said they were getting more chocolate when in fact they got less.

Just a heads up to everyone that missed this. If you have reverted to the old camera (like me). CCP have stated that they will remove the option, and leave you flying with the new camera as the only camera option.

Since changes to fundamental parts of core gameplay systems can be delicate, we’ve decided to keep the option of reverting to the old camera for about 1 month as of now.

I personally have serious issues with part of my everyday gameplay beeing just deleted from the game.

So do I.

But the jukebox... I miss it, but CCP won't listen.

CCP has some fantastic artists, but they can't design a UI to save their life. Please CCP, for the love of ******* god, leave things ugly but FUNCTIONAL.

I have been playing since 2004 and am open to changes, but this just made eve feel like a different game.
I live by the tracking camera, would be hopeless at finding some icon floating around my large screens and directing my ship at it.

Fortunately, CCP does usually record how many people reject these new optional features.

I've actually used the new camera now, I found it a little nauseating even though I only travelled 3 jumps. It was either the camera angle or I hadn't eaten.

What I found more irritating was every time I used a gate I ended up looking at a wireframe ship so I had to keep zooming out.

Edit:

It might be that it is because the angle is wider than most of the other games that have it off-set so you get more of a side view. That combined with the warp graphics effect.

I cannot play with new camera, I get awfully nauseous! PLEASE don't make it mandatory!
I have played for probably around 10 years now, I do not want to have to stop playing because of a camera change!

This is a post that I could have written the day before yesterday when I logged on after an enforced break.

None of the icons made any sense to me and weren't intuitive and, worse, was the camera. Not only was there a shock at the change but after struggling for about ten minutes to get somewhere I decided to redock and decide on having another break from the game and to do nothing but in-station trading when I come back.

The camera and the UI is utterly dreadful.

As a consumer of products, i don't think of any of the companies I'm exposed to on a daily basis whether it be the fizzy pop cola i drink or the fast food i digest, are quite as disregardful as CCP - any of the worst of those companies appear at least responsive when it comes to listening to customer feedback and reacting with regards to the product.

The new overview was and continues to be terrible. The new camera is terrible. In both cases these are changes that were not required endeavouring to fix things that were not broken.

Despite community consensus that the new camera is not an enhancement, the fact it is still scheduled to be enforced upon the playerbaser without the option of reverting to the old (and perfectly functional camera, fit for purpose) is just indicative of how obtrusively stubborn those who call the shots at CCP appear to be.

I need a fast and responsive camera to be able to kite around large gangs.

Even after turning off all the options for the camera its not completely broken but its nothing like as natural in feel as the current one.

The new cameras X and Y axis are completely difference speeds, there is heavy smoothing on movement and much less movement dampening on the rotation and zoom of the camera leaving you feeling like you are fighting it.

Lets not forget, the camera is the primary input method for playing this game, especially to manual pilot. When i stop providing input, i would like the camera to stop moving VERY shortly afterwards. When i zoom in and out with my ratchet-less scroll wheel i dont want it to go from 100% zoomed in to 100% zoomed out with hardly any input. The current camera zoom increments are not constant, the closer you are to your ship the smaller the increment of change in the zoom will be, the new camera has no such nicety and is clearly made by someone who has no appreciation for what the old camera did well and is in the process of making the game much less playable for me.

I know it must be hard for the current staff to keep to the high standards (of design if not coding) set by the original guys who actually played the game, but could you at least try to replicate something that works perfectly rather than iterating to destruction?4
