Hello all,

It has been a few years since the last time i played. At that point CCP had just introduced Planetary Interaction. Which was great fun in the beginning for an aspiring industrialist. Though while i've been gone a game called Dust 514 was released, which was related to the Planetary Interaction.

My question is, since i couldn't find a clear answer in the wikis. Can anyone's infrastructure on a planet be attacked? Even in high sec? And if so what happens? Do you lose the buildings you constructed?

Any clarifications on this subject would be much appreciated for an old pilot returning galaxy of EVE.

No, Dust never got that far.

Also it's incredibly hilarious of you to start asking those questions a couple months before Dust shuts down for good. P

Now that's what I call bad timing.

Hell, if you take another time out, you'll probably come back to Dust's inofficial sequel shutting down. P

And that last bit isn't a joke, Dust is shutting down because CCP wants to concentrate work on a PC-shooter. That FPS will be replacing Dust in a couple years. Basically, CCP confessed making Dust514 a PS3-exclusive was a bad idea.

But we Dust-players probably get some kind of bonus when the PC-game actually gets finished. More information should be coming in Spring.

Hahaha, that could happen. That is if i take another time out from the game. And a PC FPS is much better than an exclusive on the PS3. At least they realized this and are trying to correct the issue. :P

Dust 514 had some kind of war where you could gain planet control points of what it's called.
You could call orbital bombardment with the proper requirements met.
Those control point or objective would grant a bonus to PI or offer an hindrance to PI competition on the planet.
In other words, yes, it affected PI.

I read about destroying competition installation but it seems to have been changed to the percent of point system above.
In other words, if you destroy an opponent installation, you get a bonus to PI (or they get a penalty to their production).
I think the rate were around 20-80 though I'm not sure if that was the only rate set.

There was way to exchange value or assets with DUST player in that way, but I mostly forgot how.
Everything I found on this was from the forum.

I find it sadening that , just when I am about to be able to run a PS3 on my own internet connection, that they cancel the system after 5 years + or so...
It is as if it was designed to deny me something, or along with other competition systems.
That is also why it is better for me to create my own systems, not rely on them, and invest in security where it is worthwhile.

Builds ship in empty Quafe bottle.

after verifying further this PI effect is used in FW (Faction Warfare) with Planetary Districts...

On the other hand, no-one forces you to use planets influenced by FW. Considering you never know when the tides of war will turn and FW-space is generally rather lively, it's not recommended to use FW-planets for PI anyway.

Well, if you have lots of friends or love to get blown up regularly, it could be your thing. P

Man, I hope you don't want a PS3 just for Dust, or you're better hurry to get a few days of playing in. (Dust is shutting down in Spring.)

People often miss it, but all Dust 514 battles take place in PI inspired industrial compounds, with the buildings being the different structures you can construct in the PI menu, like Command Centers and Refineries.

... , unless it closes before.
I am too busy with work for EVE Online now, even though I have a home connection and PC to run it.
It's cheaper for me pay mercenaries at this point.
