Too punitive when using your on SP for a Respec?

Does anyone else think that if you extract your own SP and re-inject into the same char you should only be subject to the minimum SP loss?

After all this is just an opportunity to 'remap' your actual skill points with no Isk making involved

I'm sure this approach wouldn't dent the obvious new Plex purchasing/selling opportunities afforded by this new mechanic, the market for in char skill re-allocation is going to be limited and most of this trade will be for lower SP chars wanting a jump start

Thoughts?

No. The same (large) losses should be incurred precisely because it removes the ability to remap your SP.

The diminishing returns are there to stop people abusing the hell out of it by constantly respeccing characters with high SP.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Also, right now your SP go into an injector that is, as far as the database is concerned, the same as everyone else's. Basically, the information of what character it came from is lost. It would probably be a pain to track it.

If they do implement SP reallocation (for the same character), it will probably be simpler to just code the interface so you can pay your Aur fee and not have to use extractors or injectors. I think they're considering this, but are probably waiting for the Aria functionality. That way they don't have to code as much.

It'll still have penalties, though.

I thought the same thing. But I hadn't considered it from the abusive angle, just wanted to tweak my character a little. But the abuse angle is a good one, because this is EvE.

Ahh well, so much for that idea. Thanks for posting. Thanks Tippia, Lan, Memphis, and Jonah for explaining. I learned something today.

I've always hated that cliche myself. It doess't make any more sense when someone explains it either. It's kinda like a joke, if someone has to explain it, you're still not gonna laugh.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Maybe it means they want to have a cake and also eat a cake. Like 2 total cakes involved?

Unrelated to the OT and mentioning that I don't side with the OP's argument, but what is a cake worth if you can't eat it when you have it? If I can't eat the cake, then I don't want it in the first place.

Once it's eaten, you can no longer have it, get it? It makes a bit more sense if you phrase it the opposite way "you can't eat your cake and have it too" like a nutter or somebody from before the 20th century.

This is actually a moderately famous thing in (forensic) linguistics because it's how they caught the unabomber. His manifesto released to the public had the cake saying phrased the opposite way which convinced his brother that 'hey maybe my wife is right, my brother says that...' which then led to the tip off and further analysis of his writings, which was enough for a search warrent...
