Hey guys,

We haven't forgotten about the Mystery Code, and have been discussing some stuff for before Fanfest.

As I said when the last bunch of stuff went out, the mystery code is not going to be an ISK faucet for players who have it, and is not going to be updated with stuff super regularly. It's not a code that gives entitlement to free stuff every x number of months.

It's designed for large scale promotions when there's something big going on and we want to provide additional benefits to those who have a mystery code.

Big smile Thanks for the update!! good to know its still alive

How can it be free stuff if we paid for the CE?

So everyone keep this in mind the next time CCP touts codes as a "loyalty" or "upgrade" to some package they want to use to dig deep into your pockets

From a corporate point of view, what is the purpose of doing something for some specially loyal/investeed players less than once a year? You know, even a collectible birthday card delivered to their redeeming system at the appropiate date would be cooler than get some random trinket each 14 months or when CCP feels like it...

With all due respect, you'd whine either way.

+1 for space pegleg tho

He Falcon, can people who have a mistery code join you on one of your let's make fun of Greedy Goblin parties?

"large scale promotions when something big is going on" ... I wonder what that means.

Something big like a new Sov system? Skill Trading? A new Class of Capital Ships? Citadels?

How big does it need to be?

It's good to know it hasn't been forgotten but...

The response is sufficiently vague to the point of ensuring that in another year we'll probably be seeing this thread again. What you've given is an uncertainty about what it can/will be used for, how often and, at least as I read it, whether it will require some form of further buy in.

So far the mystery code goods seem to revolve around goods of a type otherwise found in the NES (IIRC), does that mean the code benefits will concentrate on development there?
How big is "big" in regard to this? Does it include large changes in game play, new in game items, new store items, or new types of items being offered?
And is the time frame more or less as those qualified changes come (which appears to not have happened as of yet since the code was released based on current mystery code offerings)?

Apparently bigger than Citadels. At least we now have a standard to judge by.

How about early access to the New Eden FPS for PC?Blink

I remember I use to get a once-in-a-lifetime closed beta invite for Dust 514 just for being an Eve Online subscriber. Would be nice to get early access with the Mystery Code since I have that too. Just putting it out there.Blink

How about using mystery code holders in the story line?
If something big happens, the code holders could receive a mail or the like that somehow offers information, a mission or the like.
Like when the Upwell Consortium calls on capsuleers to collect Research Components. Ok, maybe you do not want to make THAT exclusive to a small group, but they could get a special flavour.
Or they can become "champions" being tasked with something an individual can never achieve - they hold the key, but they have to organise people to get it done.
It could also be another way to spread lore bits (maybe in the form of items).

-> super exclusive
-> no straight free stuff
-> creates content

Mystery puzzle pieces for mystery code holders.
