Question about standing

I'm playing a Gallente character and have been doing security missions. I discovered my standings for Amarr and Caldari have been falling. They don't like me very much now and I'd like to be able to go to all the high sec systems without being shot at by the Concords.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, and is there a way to avoid missions against the Amarr and Caldari that doesn't **** off the agents? Declining missions tends to annoy them doesn't it?

Also, I've been collecting insignias. Is there something I can do with them besides selling them to other players? Maybe like giving them back to the Amarr and Caldari and saying sorry. Thanks ...

When doing security missions, you need to pay attention as to whom the enemy is. If they're putting you up against Amarr or Caldari, then naturally, your standings will drop. To ensure your standings with other factions don't drop, you'll want to only accept missions where the enemy are the NPC pirate factions; Serpentis, etc.

If memory serves, Sisters of EVE security missions, have a verrrrry small chance of faction (Amarr, etc) killing missions. So you may wish to consider them. Unless I'm wrong in my recollection, in which case, ignore what I've said.

The tags you've been collecting are used in conjunction with LP (loyalty points) to buy certain items. Federation faction modules may require ISK and an amount of tags, to purchase.

You may decline a mission once every 4 hours without standings penalty.

Repairing your standings with these factions isn't too difficult. There are several skills under the Social tree that will help in this.

If you get a Mission briefing, view carefully against which faction you will fight.
If it's Amarr or Caldari and you don't want to loose Standing, then you must decline the mission.
And hoping, the next mission offer will go against a pirate faction. If not, you need to wait for 4 hours
until you can decline the next Mission to not loose Standing to the corporation of the agent.

In those cases it is handy to choose a mission system where you can run missions for other
Corps meanwhile - may be one or two jumps away.

If you already ruined your Standings to a faction and want to repair the standings,

I lolled though.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Thanks for the responses. I trained a couple levels of diplomacy and that helped. I was surprised to find out it has an immediate effect. I though it would only be for future missions. So now they still don't like me but it's not so bad. I'll work "the plan" later when I have a better understanding about how things work. When ever that is.

It is not a quick solution but for long term maintaining balance keep in mind that the 4 main faction's epic arcs give a good faction bonus with no opposing faction hit to standing. At least not for turning in the missions. There is one minmatar mission that has a very small Amarr faction hit for a ship kill. It is very small.

To avoid standings loss in the future, you can:

1. Refuse missions that send you against the other Empires; only do missions against drones, pirates, or neutral mercs. As it's been said above, each mission will have the insignia of the opponent you're facing in the "Objectives" area towards the top. Just decline such missions.

Right-click the agent and Show Info, then switch to the agent's "Notes" tab; you can type up a comment in there that is just for you (nobody else will see it). Put in the date and the time when you refused the mission.

You can refuse a mission from each agent once every 4 hours, with no repercussions. So check, if it's bad refuse, note the time, wait 4 hrs (do missions for other agents in the meantime).

2. Only do "regular" missions for the agent, refuse the "storyline / important" missions that are offered every 16 regular missions. The important missions are very rewarding, but they also change your standings with the empires.

You can Show Info and follow the info pages from the agent to his/her corp, to its empire, to the Standings tab for the empires. If Amarr Empire hates Minmatar Republic with a hatred of -5 and viceversa, that means every time you gain +0.1 points with Amarr Empire for doing an important mission, you also lose -0.05 with Minmatar (and probably -0.02 with Gallente) because they hate each other.

If you do just regular missions, you only gain standings with the NPC corp that owns the agent, and they don't hate each other. You can have +10 with Caldari Navy and +10 with Gallente Federation Navy and 0 with Caldari and Gallente, and reap pretty much all the benefits. Jita station is Caldari Navy, Dodixie station is Federation Navy, you get tax reduction at both places.

Also, learn the difference. Concord =/= Faction Navy

The main two difference

1. Navies aren't as powerful as concord.
2. You are allowed to outrun / evade navies, if you do that with CONCORD, then the next powerful faction called CCP will show up with a hammer

EvE Survival can help you determine which missions are against one of the 4 major factions. It has a lot of other useful information as well.

f* standings. The Gallente and Minmatar hate me...why? Because they invade Amarr space and then get pissed when someone massacres them...

Really, they are really going to get pissed about that? Ummm...yeah, that's called justice...

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

Beware that standings are cached, and you may need to logout-login to see a change, or worse, for that change to be effective.

Example: back when one needed standing to anchor a control tower in hisec, I did missions until I had 7.0 standing, but I still couldn't anchor in a 0.7 sec system. When I logged-out and back in, I immediately could.

That could make more of a difference when you find NPC want to shoot you. [EDIT: of course logout safely in a station, or use the ESC menu option to logout safely in space.]

This word "inconceivable", I don't think it means what you think it means.
