Don't encourage him, philosophy built on bull sit slips over every time.

I too loled though.

The main thing it does is stop a sole miner using an Orca as a jet can in a mission or scan site, rats come along, lock something, and oh noes.

Getting you on your feet.

So you've further to fall.

I think CCP should bring it back....BUT!...if the pilot that takes a ship from the SMA has aggro, the Orca gets it too for 'helping' someone in a PvP situation, just like neutral RR. Now all you need are probes for a free kill on the Orca. Should be very easy to find an Orca in space that isn't at a belt... Twisted

I wouldn't mind seeing that, though it'll lead to the fun aspect of lowsec station games where players dock their shiny in their carrier, and warp their pod off as they dock their carrier. Though this would be limited to sub-BS station games.

By stealth nerf I mean not listed in any patch notes, so enjoy your surprise and confusion after installing patch.

The first nerf was a PITA. The 2nd one is simply we-todd-did in my humble opinion.

As it is now, If I'm mining in high sec, and my Orca pilot jettisons a T3 for me to board, and some we-todd-did NPC / Player / Drone targets the empty T3 before I can board it, there it sits, floating in space un-piloted and vulnerable.

  • The Orca Pilot can't scoop it back into SMA since the T3 is targeted by something.
  • The T3 pilot can't board it because he doesn't own the ship and it is targeted. (Orca pilot launched it so Orca pilot owns it)
  • The Orca pilot could board it if skilled, but then we have an empty Orca floating in space.
  • If the Orca Pilot is not skilled, then the T3 floats in space until a solution is figured out, or down time occurs.

At least now War Targets, Can Flippers, and Care Bears have a new layer of safety from the evil Orca of doom.

CCP doesn't want you switching ships/fits in combat situations (very reasonably, IMO)

If you want a new ship/fitting, dock up and change it.

CCP wants you to commit to a fight with the ship/fitting you have.

honestly -- I dont buy this as being reasonable. IMO in small group and solo pvp there is a lot of rock/paper/scissors going on -- anything that allows players to break out of that pattern and to introduce tactics and randomness to combat is a good thing, as otherwise the combat becomes unduly predictable and boring. As far as im concerned ccp picked the wrong solution to this issue. Rather then removing the feature -- they should have continued to allow it, but with the proviso that the orca's become aggro flagged for have participated in the fight.

We are playing in a sandbox.
We figure our buckets can hold water, not only sand.
That speical kid, you know who I mean, tell the grown ups we are using our buckets wrong.
The grown ups poke holes in the bottom of our buckets.
We can now only play with our buckets "how they were supposed to be used".
