Why are Citadels so dark and gloomy ?

Why are citadels so dark ?

I thought they were supposed to look all like super high tec shiny cities.... where are the neon signs / advertising banners ?

Dont want dark smelly mining platform !


(realise these shots are in the suns shadow... but if you look at a city CBD in the dark its brilliantly lit.. not a dark gloomy industrial complex that hasnt paid its power bil..)

Pretty sure i read somewhere that citadel lighting effects change as more people dock in it.

it only had 1/2 of its stuff online form what i read. and it snot finished yet

Its going to need more than another 50% worth of lighting to make it look like a city and not a warehouse..

I've seen the latest models and I had a trouser containment problem. Let the Art guys do their jobs before drawing early conclusions P.

Glad to hear it. But better to comment (state preferences) now while they are being worked on rather than wait til finished product and be disappointed.

Having 1/2 of things online is not equal to having any lighting done.

Silly assumptions as your OP only makes game designers want to preview things less often.

Unfinished WIP assets is "unfinished Work In Progress assets." Lighting is only a fraction of making such new assets a reality.



To be honest, Lighting on an even part of a space object 150km across should look more like this than that.

You should not be able to identify individual windows from 10km away let alone 150km away from these stations.

You should see the combined glow from many of them.

I am afraid some of these structures will not be finished, from financial reasons.
Then some pirates, narcotic dealer, hookers and space squaters will move in and space police will avoid these regions.
