So quick background:

My system is set up ssd for os and some programs and hdd for secondary programs/storage.

I used mklink a while back to link the CCP folder in C:\Program Data to a location on one of my hdd's. Well the hdd failed last week breaking the link. I just decided to uninstall and reinstall eve putting the CCP folder back @ C:\Program Data.

Now the launcher will start, but the game will not launch. Nothing happens, well it does start the exe file I can see in the task manager. I have run the repair tool a few times, tried uninstall/reinstall and tried different locations for the CCP folder using the settings option in the launcher. I have tried to manually run the exe file also. Multiple reboots have taken place. I am at a loss of what to do? Any advice?

The uninstaller did not remove config files etc, the link is still there.
Thats why you should never do something like that ever.

That's kind of what I figured, didn't realize you could move the folder through the launcher settings. Any advice on how to deal with the standing link or remove the config files?

Not sure where the link would be saved, id start with deleting the CCP folder in
C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\CCP
And then verify the cache

I was looking into it and the link (which I had already deleted in the Program Data folder) is gone, there is no link once you delete it from what I understand. I have even put the CCP folder back in the program data folder, but still no launching.

I deleted the CCP folder in the appdata location and verifyied the cache to no avail.

Those are the only two places I have seen any EVE related data, oh and in My Documents but I think that is just logs.

Any other ideas?

Short of formatting and reinstalling your OS and not doing links like that again, no. Could be some registry keys left pointing in the wrong direction.

Ah ha! Found it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/37q65t/eve_news_launching_the_game_from_exefileexe_will/

Just had to reinstall the launcher https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202664365 .

Whew no way was I reformatting my OS :D

So why do you say that using the mklink for these files is a bad idea. Seems like it would be no different if I had a program installed on another drive and the drive fails. Or in the case of eve if I had the folder set up on a different drive(Using the launcher settings) and it failed.
