Lurker seeking basic information on Outposts

My googlefu is not strong and I have yet to determine if the upcoming citadels will replace outposts. I have reached the point where I would like to set up a outpost in hisec for "activities" of noble and possibly nefarious means (depends on your point of view). Therefore I have two questions I seek clarifacation:

  1. Are the new citadels going to replace outposts?
  2. If not, would a large outpost be a better investment or a citadel?

Thank you in advance.

You cannot put an outpost in high sec. You can put a POS in high sec, which is most definitely not an outpost.

Citadels will eventually replace both POS and outposts, but there's no known timeline for that AFAIK.

Thanks for your response. Then I guess my question is that is it worth putting in a large POS in highsec before the citadel expansion?

My guess would be that we have citadels within two months at the latest, seeing how today was the first mass test with one and it didn't look all that bad.. We'll have to wait and see what we can actually do with these babies and what we're going to need the new structures for that will follow the release of citadels.

In my opinion, you should wait a little while longer and see how things develop.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Yes.

A large industrial POS will be far cheaper than the smallest citadel.

It's planned to remove all POSes but for a moment, the 2 will coexist.

Thank you for your response. I will wait. The smallest citadel does have some appeal to me (docking for one).

... and no such thing as a small citadel. Only medium (POS replacement), large (outpost replacement), and XL.

Small structures are deployables like Mobile Depots and secure containers.

Hi there - A quick question I have related to the OP's subject.

Does anyone know whether we will need the same standings to raise a HS Cit as you do a HS POS as we do now?

Thanks

Yes, exactly the same, which is none

They removed Standings to put up a POS in HS about 2 years ago

From what I've read not all the planned features of the citadel expansion are gonna drop right away. It seems doing industry will be a bit father down the line. If I'm wrong on this I'm sure someone will correct me.

There are 9 new structures

Citadels are the first of 9, we figure approx 3 years for complete phase in of all the new structures
