Finding a corporation

Hi, I'm a couple of days into my 14 day trial and got myself into a small corp (4 people) but was wanting something more than this to tempt me into a subscription.

As I cannot post in the normal forums as a trial account (like the Corp recruitment), how would I go about trying to get into a decent sized (in the dozens of active members) corp which takes place in FW, lives a little lower than High Sec, makes POS's etc?

I've had a couple trials before and done a very lot of reading, my previous trials were the first was a mix of everything doing all the types of missions, as Caldari, then the second was very much primarily mining (Caldari again) with trading in between to try get ISK quick (managed 300mil in 3 weeks), but then the corp I was in disbanded etc.. so I quit.

I'm not Amarr, trying to go after PvP (with PvE on the side for the grind for equipment, ISK, experience - waiting for SP!!!) so looking for a group to bring me in, help me out, to make my sub worthwhile.

P.S. I seen a load of links with 30 day trials, of which my previous 2 trials were, how come this has recently been reduced to 14, not much time to figure stuff out IMHO to attract newer players?

Get out and fly around the EvE universe, talk to players you meet along the way.
The first thing you need to find a corp that is right for you is to know what you want to do so you can find like minded players to join with.

Do the others in the corp you are in actively help you by answering questions, helping with missions or what ever that are difficult for you to complete? If so then spending a little more time there learning may not be a bad thing to do.

You get the 30 day trial for when you are a part of a buddy request, if not, then its just a 14 day trial.

I am on my phone so yes it would be very difficult. I was trying to be as helpful as possible given the limitations of my phone. I might make a more lengthy post when I get home.

afaik it is 14 day trial and 21 days on a buddy invite. I think part of that is the longer time period gives an incentive to buddy invites, and my other guess is either 30 day trials were either getting abused or not making any difference to the sign on rate.

when you say makes pos do you mean farms PI to get the materials to make them, or a corp that sets them up in space and has a bunch around?

a lot of corps don't want trial members, either because they are afraid of spies, theft, or other abuses a low SP throwaway character can bring. or simply because many trial accounts don't subscribe. In some cases they also want pilots that can fit into various doctrine ships and that usually means having a bit of SP.

as far as finding a corp goes... Well I'm pretty useless at that. I joined idle like 9 years ago as an RL friend was there, and recently joined eve-scout as it is a good group of people where I can play pretty casually. I've never really looked for a corp.

many people miss them. and I'm typically on the forums so much I almost never notice them when they change. In most sections I've seen the stickied posts and pretty much never need to read them again.

My advice after playing this game for so long is to try everything out before settling into one place.
The problem is when you start ISK becomes such a big part of the game as you wish to buy bigger and better ships all the time, try to skill up for stuff such a Level 4 Missions, Incursions, Wormholes.... all this stuff can be done solo or with a corporation.
Then when you have a sustainable income your able to move onto bigger and better things such as solo PVP, Group PVP etc...

Go to recruitment channel.

Say "I am new and am looking for a corp, I want to do [Whatever it is you envision yourself doing in EVE]" you'll get like ten conversation invites.

This works for basically any potential career path except being a highsec mercenary, because apparently we don't recruit like that?

Look into legio x latro aka as LXL it's a small Corp but part of a larger alliance. We are Gallerie fw and welcome low sp players contact jahbulon via eve mail tell him aradroxx sent you we are part of the GMVA alliance you can also shoot me an eve mail but I am not online as much as I would like to be as I'm a truck driver and can only play sparingly

Some newbie making a thread on the recruitment forums going "hi, looking for corp and I have this to offer" has a much better chance of turning out to be a worthwhile newbie than someone who used the corp finder, sorted on % and clicked "join". It's the same for corporations, any corp spamming in the recruitment channel is pretty much by definition a terrible corp and one that will attract sharks.

Just approach a corp directly. Note that you don't have to be a member of any specific race to join their faction warfare battle.

I hear Brave Newbies Inc. [SB00N] is in faction warfare (Caldari), and so is Dirt 'n' glitter [D-N-G] (Amarr).

But he CAN read them, and 99% of them list how to contact them if interested.

In the beginning you might have to just find a corp and not be too picky. I mean you want to look for a good corp but not spend weeks looking for the perfect one. Just find a helpful new player friendly corp so that you have people to ask questions of.

Then as you play the game and find your playstyle talk to people as you are doing what you do. Investigate characters when you have time by doing a right-click then show info. Then from there you can click on their corp then their Alliance. You can read up on those corps if they give a decent description. Many will have info on how to join public chat channels that they have set up.

So once you find people doing what you are doing and you think that you've found a decent corp hangout in their chat channels and talk with them. You can do this with multiple corps at once and hang out there for months if you like.

Anyways to me the thing that helps determine a "good" corp in an MMO is if I like hanging out with and playing with these people. Talking with them nightly for a bit can help determine that.

Never said they didn't have any. Just saying that because of the simple fact that using the forums for it requires a more pro-active mindset where people actually have to think up and type out a recruitment post you have a good chance of avoiding the really really bad ones. The recruitment channel is a who's who of macro spamming terrible corps gobbling up newbies into their shittiness, and people looking for corps like that to infiltrate or wardec. You simply stand a better chance to find something worthwhile by using the forums.
