Target Payload not found?

This is the second time in a row I've had this issue with patching. Last time I just reinstalled the game. This time I'm coming to the forums.

When patching, it'll patch about a quarter of the way through then stop and say 'Target Payload Not Found'. What does this mean?

I went to show details and it's something to do with my temp folder. Not being the greatest with computers I'm not sure how to fix this problem without having to try again or reinstall. I deleted the route folder in question but that didn't seem to do anything. Still get the same error but with a different folder within the temp folder.

Should I just go through and remove all the temp files in there?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you! Big smile

How much space do you have left on that drive?

Post the details you're seeing with the patcher that mentions the temp folder?
There should be a patcher log file somewhere too...don't remember where it is though.

Strictly speaking, you don't need any of the files in your 'Temp' folder, so go ahead and clear it out.

'Target Payload Not Found', coupled with the folder change, sounds like the patch may be corrupt. My only recommendation is to re-download the patch and see if that fixes it.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

I'll try redownloading it as you suggest. I just tried running the repair tool. It gave me a location for the log but when I go there, there's no log! Oops

Do the logs show nothing because there are no logs?

You can delete the temp files, but I have a feeling either the zip file with the patch is getting corrupted or getting locked while trying to unpack. If you have antivirus software installed, turn it off while it patches (and downloads).

Is there anything past the part that says:
Execute: C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Temp\nsgBE79.tmp\downloader.exe http://content.eveonline.com/326279/PATCH_323364-326279.7z --outpath="C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\downloads" --nsis_hw=1507906

Nope.

Update:

Spring cleaning my temp fold (CRTL + A > delete) has made it so I could at least start applying the patch.

I want to thank you both for your assistance.

One thing you can try besides the antivirus disable, right click the folder C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\CCP and select properties, then go to the security tab, click add, in the box type everyone, click check names, everyone should then be underlined, click ok, then ok. (this is for xp, I assume it's still the same for win7/vista).

There is also a cache folder in there. It should be something like C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\[drive]_[folder]_eve_tranquility\cache or something similar, empty the contents of that folder, or delete it all together. That will effectively clear your cache. Sometimes it fixes a broken patcher. Becareful what you delete though, you could delete your settings and have to redo all those again if you accidentally delete more than the cache folder. If you don't care, then just delete the whole folder above the cache folder and that should reset everything for you. Empty out the C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\downloads folder before attempting to patch again as well.

Good luck :)
If the application of the patch fails, see my above post.

Norton Endpoint prevented me from updating. Disabling cleared the way for a clean update.

I was having the exact same issue as you describe.

I had this happen on today's patch and I finally figured it out.
The Firewall had asked permission for the patch file to access the Internet and I was doing something else and must have accidentally answered no .

Cleaning the temp folders did not help nor did deleting just the patch and redownloading.

Clearing the CCP - EVE cache was enough since the patch goes to a different named sub folder and the firewall had to ask again on the new d/l. If that doesn't work maybe you'll need to go through the firewall filter and remove any blocks or rules relating to CCP programs.

Nice only way to get around this is to UPLOAD from ANYONE but CCP. seems CCP cant get its stuff together. ive had good luck on STEAM which is funny to me. Nice to see CCP getting on top of GAME INSTALL i mean up till then we all had so much trouble patching game and running it. THANKS CCP...... for fixing things were not broke while leaving broken things unfixed. :D anyway you all enjoy downloading the GAME every time this happens. no fix for it. just RELOAD whole game. and send ccp a email telling them how happy u are with new product.
