Hello!

I've created my own language, Gallentean, and have incorporated it into an online translator. I'd like to release it when it's FAR more complete, but I'd love it if you could give me sentences to translate, to try it out!

Cheers

"Non non, esta est pa le at tod. Fai le mas. . . psssssshhhhhh"

"I thought you'd be cuter in person."

"Ye pensa te estre mas minione dan person."

"Quick, to the space potato!"

"Rapid, a li espas patat!"

It's a mix of the five romance languages, a bit of English, a simpler structure than any of those and a space twist.

Is it really a different language, or is it just different words using English grammar?

One thing I like about some artificial languages, they are true new languages. You can't get a thesaurus and puzzle your way through.

This is poo.

Another thing is, Do the Caldari refer to themselves as Caldari, or is that what everyone else calls them? Because when you learn other languages, often the word another language uses to refer to a nation is different.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Looks like thesarus English. Not seeing any signs of a true different language. Although you dropped "over"

Really, it's the grammar and phonological differences that really make languages different. I'm just seeing English with different words.

Inverted adjectives, emphasis is inserted into words rather than before "awesome", instead of being it's separate word, becomes "maxbien": "verygood".

It's based off French evolving, since the Gallente are descendants of the French.

To give an example using you're attempt. I'm just going to assume you've already created some phonological structure that this sample doesn't truly show the limits of.

Kaladri li devredone tod ystem Min

Lit: Caldari to should(give) all systems We

Language differences.
Caldari drops contextually obvious words (our) because you can't give away someone else's systems.
Because the culture of Caldari is focused on the corp, any references to one's self or group are always last in the sentence.
deredone is a "conjugation" of the word (done) which are actually modified prepositionally. Verbs are thus "conjugated" maybe 20 different ways based on common usage.
Thus basic sentence structure is
predicate verb object subject

It just seems like a cipher using words from other languages, with trivial syntactic flips and compounding.

Yea, that's what I was trying to say but the word cipher wasn't coming to mind. I was just trying to skim the surface of what makes languages different. There are books written on the subject.

Generally, right off the bat, if the sentence lengths are pretty much the same and the word breaks are all the same, then it's more likely a cipher than a different language.

Other things that identify different languages.

Different connotations for words.
Generic words in one language might have 5 or more situationaly relevant counterparts in another language.
words might be different parts of speech. A verb in one language might be a noun in another. So even though the meaning is the same, the usage might be different.
A lot of culturally significant words that simply do not translate.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.
