Does CCP want to increase the number of live streamers?

I have been looking at live streaming my Eve activities. Unfortunately, I quickly found out that no matter the precautions I am putting on my stream screen to cover my intel, the game is working against me: when right clicking in space, the name of the current system can be easily viewed, and when using the radial menu and clicking an object in space, the system info also appears.

This seems counter to what CCP would want, I mean more streamers is good for the game right?
Why would a casual player stream their game when it increases the risk on their assets?

It would be nice if the game offered an option to obfuscate the name of current system in the radial/right click menus, for those streamers that are looking to showcase Eve without adding extra risks to their ships when doing so.

If they know your characters name, anyone can just use a locator agent to find you and crash your stream. It's just the risk of streaming in an open world PvP game. By streaming, you put a kick me sign on your own back, no matter if the viewers can clearly see your position in the stream or not.

Apart from being a more juicy targets, you still have all the means to avoid being shot down in your hands. Watch local, watch the directional scanner, use scouts, be aligned, bring friends.

I thought twitch had a delay on it's streaming you could use? So you can keep it 5 minutes out of date.

Technically you can, but if you want to actually talk with your chat room, you need to keep that delay as short as possible

Yeah, there's no point.

I put an image over my chat channels for the sake of the privacy of the people in them, but I'm not worried about getting "stream-sniped". Hell, streaming can be a great way to get people to come fight you.

The funny thing I've noticed is that while people talk about EVE Online having boring gameplay, when I stream MechWarrior Online or Warframe I never get any viewers. I've only been streaming EVE for a little while and I'm up to 28 Followers so far.

To the OP, if you want to stream just go for it.

You can, and even some programs used for streaming, such as Open Broadcasting Software (OBS) allow you to tweak that delay to your preference (you could have a 90-minute delay if you wanted). However, most streamers like interacting with their viewers, and since you can't always type a response in a timely manner that delay is cut down as much as possible so you can give a relatively timely response to questions and comments.

Most fleet commanders won't allow you to stream unless you have something like a 60- to 90-minute delay on the stream. That's part of the reason many of the larger, more established fleets, corporations and alliances don't have regular streamers.

That being said, you CAN use OBS to filter out unneeded information with scripts (for instance, I can make it so Teamspeak won't come through on the stream, right-clicking gives no intel, and locations are blurred out. It just takes a little time to set up.

There are games that naturally bring in viewers. Path of Exile, DotA 2, League of Legends, and Starcraft II will usually bring people interested in seeing up-and-comers streaming. Other games, such as Rift, SWTOR, and even World of Warcraft, will not. It all comes down to personality and knowledge of the game to keep them coming back.

More ships blowing up is good for the game, if you stream your location the chances of explosions increase!

One less streamer of fabulous gaming skill. If it weren't so earth shaking it'd be significant.

I do understand that, but my question is more like why CCP is adding useless information that fundamentally are discouraging players that could be willing to stream?

When the system's name appears on the right click or on the radial menu, I, as a player do not really care. I already know which system I am in. Knowing the planet number/moon/bookmark I am warping to is what I need on those interactions.

Running a loc agent, recognizing a nebula are all valid ways in-game to try to identify my location, and I do agree that they will find me anyway, but what does CCP gains by making it as easy as reading from a screen being broadcasted?
