It usually tells you in the info of the starter pack if it is only for new accounts or can be used to upgrade a trial or added to an exsisting account.

A link to the starter pack you are refering to would be halpful.

Yeah, please link which starter pack you're looking at.

Google only returns what appear to be packs with items and aur, no game time.

From the Steam terms of use:

Quote:
Notice: Purchasing a Starter Pack will initiate the creation of a new EVE account. This account cannot be combined with any existing EVE account(trial included) and has to be accessed separately through the Steam client.

Monthly subscription fee required after first month. Subscriptions & PLEX through the Steam store can only be purchased by users that have purchased the EVE Online Starter Pack via Steam on or after June 4th, 2013.

Owners of the EVE Online: Starter Pack will be unable to purchase the EVE Online: Premium Edition for the same account.

So the answer is no.

If you already have an account and your character is less than a few days old, then you can probably close the account and switch everything to the Steam offer, but you'll lose any time you've already paid for, and you'll start from scratch again. If this is a trial account that you haven't paid anything for, then by all means go for the Steam offer, just abandon this account. CCP allows multiple accounts.

Don't be sad.

Those packs contain nothing you can't get by playing the game for a few minutes. The only worthwhile item in them is the Aurum if you are in to the skins/clothing you buy from the store. Everything else is easy to get in game.

Edit: Seems I was looking at the wrong packs. oops

Yes, but it costs to transfer characters between accounts. Character transfer

First, don't try to create a pristine / perfect character in this game. Your character is a tool to be used by you to have fun, that's all it is. If you try for "perfect", you'll never PVP, and after 6 months or 1 year of effort you will "ruin" your character by mistakenly joining the "wrong" corp, or attacking someone in high-sec because you mis-clicked, or getting a bounty, or whatever. Just don't do it.

Since I know your character name, I can, for example, place a bounty on your head, "ruining" your character right now. You'll probably abandon it and switch to Steam a lot more readily if I do that.

But the Steam offer isn't that great, to be honest. They're pretending that the EVE Online software / game box costs $50, when in fact you can download it for free. In truth, with no promotions, it only costs $5 to "activate" an account: your first payment is $20 and includes a month of subscription time, after that each month is $15. So the difference in the first month is $5.

CCP is also offering those items that Steam is offering, here. For $20 if you get all 4. So basically the true savings is about $20.

However, a Steam EVE account has the following issues:

- you can't log in (just like us) if the EVE servers are down, but you also can't log in if the Steam is patching or is down.
- you can't play more than one account with Steam.
- and you can't play the Steam account at the same time as normal EVE accounts (a lot of people have 2 or more accounts which they play one on each screen or on multiple computers, and in the future you may like the game so much that you may want to do that).

So personally I'd suggest:

- keep your account
- activate normally for 1 month and see if you actually like the game
- if you do, use CCP's discounts from the Account Management page to get some savings

- Create another character and keep this one for forum posting, to ask your questions and get answers about the game. This way if you **** off any of the PVP'ers, hopefully they don't know who your main is. You can also create alts and train them a little bit to stay in the market hub and trade your stuff for you, while you roam around. But mostly your first task right now is to try everything in-game to see if you like it. So do that.

These are CCP's offers.

These are the payment methods they support.

EDIT: Paypal seems to be working in Brazil, and as far as I know they're a trusted payment method for a lot of things, not just EVE. I've used paypal before, never had issues.

EDIT2: List of country-specific chat channels in-game. You can join the Brasil one by clicking on the Channels button in the bar on the left, and then typing in Brasil for the channel name. Then you can ask them for suggestions on how to pay and which service to use.
