Hi tech savy eve players (seems to go hand in hand)

So the "sales" happened... and i picked myself up a SSD Big smile mainly for my OS but have been thinking what else was worth putting on there....

Now the big question is EVE ... is it worth the hassel of transferring it over? is there any notable benifit?

Also if it is worth pushing it over, how do you get around all the temp files and logs etc? is there an easy way of keeping them on my standard hard drive?

Many thanks

a) it's not a hassle. you just copy/move the folder and create a new link
b) yes it helps a lot
c) but lots of the latency you have on things like the market won't solved because that's a server issue

I plan on using an ssd for the OS and programs ...
... and a small msata one for hibernation and pagefile seperately.

Boosts performance so much. SSDs are the first item thqt actually boosted productivity,
by removing all the time waiting for the HDD. My first SSD was the best purchase ever.

If you keep temp files om the hdd you won't do yourselfma favour,
especially when it comes to EVE.

I use a 512GB Samsung 850 EVO with 2 partitions, one 64GB for the OS, pagefile and installed windows software, the other for games and video editing. And then a normal TB HDD for downloads, torrents, fraps and uhm "stuff". SSD really are a massive performance boost.

SSD is so worth m8! I dumped my 1TB hard and bought 512SSD and but all my stuff on it from OS to installed programs.
Everything runs instantaneously.

Answer:
Eve - Loads Faster (Game performance feels same)

Anyways SSD is the best investment you can do to your computer!

EVE's temp files don't take up much space, and modern SSDs don't wear down with writes nearly as much as they used to.

Can you elaborate on these changes win10 did? Thanks!

Win 10 is no faster than win7 other than a slightly faster boot time, 3D performance is the same (+/-2%). It's just that people come from a bloated Win 7 they've had for years, then install a new OS and suddenly it's a whole lot faster.

It makes a huge difference, especially when session changes like eg undocking.

Huh autocorrect tried to change that to 'undignified'. Even my phone thinks I'm a bad :'(

There are a lot more cons to Win10 than pros, especially if you're coming from Win7 and value your privacy.

SSDs are always worth it though. Going from using HDDs to run your OS from, to SSDs, is one of the most noticable performance boosts you'll ever have.

it made my laptop run faster doing any tasks, booting up creative suite, microsoft edge is faster than chrome, looks much better and more user friendly, better multi monitor support, integration with my xbox one and hotmail etc

Privacy issues? i use facebook and if you use facebook privacy concerns are pretty irrelevant. there is ways arr
ound the privacy issues via the settings

Im still exploring windows 10 but everything i do on it seems to be much easier than windows 7 (i dont just use my laptop for gaming, its also my work computer)

Windows 7 is dated and old now

When moving to my new computer, EVE was installed by default on the SSD main drive. Now my Captain Quarters load in less than 10 seconds and is so fast that I've turned them on for all my a characters. Lol

Yeah, win10 is so great, they give it out for free to literally everyone who ever used windows.
I'm sure all these settings totally help you not being the product they make money off. :)

Can you elaborate on how microsoft are making money from me from a free upgrade? if they charged you for the operating system would it make it a more appealing? linux is free and osx also released a free os

That's a tiny boot partition if you ever get a significant RAM upgrade, as your pagefile is going to swell to match.

The same way google makes money from providing a free search engine, web browser, and android, et; al.

They(=many companies who offer free products/services) track your cookies, access data on your mobile,
save what you talk about (any apps with access to the microphone. It's legal, you allowed it),
sell information about what you do to computer, where you surf, what your interests are,
what you buy, ... you can look it all up. They sell that data.

That's no conspiracy, that's how companies nowadays make money. "You are the product."

Linux is free. It's open source. Companies make money from Linux by offering support. That's completely different.

And I understand now that it's useless going on, because you don't understand enough about it (you compare linux to this just because it's (actually) free) and don't care anyway, even when the consequences will be actually dramatic at some point in the short to medium future.

yeah i know that, its common, google do it and i also work work in marketing for a lead generation company so im pretty clued up on how companies sell data and how to get data to then be sold on or convert to sales, sheesh i even make stuff to look like certain companies to trick people into giving me the details, because you know some people are so stupid that if something is the same colour as something else they can actually think its exactly what they are looking for when its actually not. and yeah its legal

Im not going to boycot an operating system for gathering data when its just common these days and if you you are holding off upgrading an operating system because someone might gather your data then you are pretty silly because they are probably already doing it through another method,

if privacy of your details is such an issue then you should really stop using the internet and any device that connects to the internet or makes calls, its not that i dont understand its the fact i dont understand why people complain about a certain thing with privacy when every other thing is already doing it.
