"Hyper threading (HT) does not improve any notable performance in gaming on smooth gaming settings, despite scoring barely higher maximum frame rates in some games. In fact, HT decreases minimal frame rates by a smal margin in these games: Crysis 3, Metro Last Light Redux, Hard Reset " <= Because the additional overhead of managing 2 threads on a core that is already maxxed out with 1 thread takes CPU effort.

as said the the i5 is sufficient enough for gaming, i only use i7 and xeons because i use programs which they work better on, the cpu and gpu are not the issue with the guys machine id say its a motherboard issue or lack of cooling (thermal paste, fans, ventilation, cleaning)

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

I have a FX 6300 at 4.5 ghz (990fx mobo with a proper VRM design) with 16 GB of ram and a gtx 660. I regularly run 10 clients on it when boxing incursions or WHs. I can run them on low/medium and still get +30 fps each client (when overlayed in windowed mode) as seen in my videos. It's only when I'm forced into using OBS to record that I get a performance hit :(

So what I'm saying is I agree that his motherboard is trash for an 8 core FX CPU. The VRM setup used is only 4+1 which will cause the VRMs to run hotter naturally. These boards are also known for having VRM issues even without the 8xxx series CPU being used. I am surprised it runs much at all with an 8320. The motherboard certainly wasn't designed to handle the 8xxx series power draw. I would never recommend that motherboard be paired with anything higher than a stock fx 6300 and that might even be pushing it. If it ran alright before then either the heat sinks are clogged or the hardware itself is damaged from all the heat over time. Once thermal related resistance increases sets in it creates a cycle of destruction.

So my suggestion is to get a non crappy motherboard. You'll see a large improvement in performance.

EDIT : My 990fx motherboard uses a 12 + 2 power phase design. Just to give you an idea of how weak a 4 + 1 design is.

Also Open Hardware Monitor is a good one stop shop for information on your system's health.
