I can very much recommend Neuromancer and the sequels - Count Zero and Mona Lisa overdrive.

I didn't like robopocalypse much, it felt like a screen script without much dept.

It's hard not to love Clarke for all his brilliance, but he really excels in scientific, and not so much in emotions or relations IMO.

A few recommendations:
1984 by Orwell - he wrote the book in 1950, and it's amazing/scary to see how close it resembles the world we know today. It's a bleak story.

Night's dawn trilogy and the commonwealth saga books by Peter F. Hamilton. Great scifi space opera books with lots of action and exiting characters. I would start with Pandoras star.

The quantum thief by Hannu Rajaniemi. Its the first book in a trilogy. Very exiting blend of technology and social media + 100 other things. Space opera but edgy and clever.
