Hey guys, so I just finished all 5 career agents and I'm about to start the sisters of eve arc. I know where to go and who to speak to, but I only know about the questline in the first place because I asked around and looked online. s

Would there have been an in-game prompt to nudge me in that direction, and did I miss it??

I'm asking because I'd hate to miss out on anything cool by not knowing where to look.

thanks

here are the starting agents for the 4 arcs.

you will need to meet the requisite standings level with the corporation of the receptive starting agent to start each of the arcs.

be warned though, they are lvl 4 missions and a whole lot harder than the sisters one was.

you will need to be able to run lvl 4 missions before jumping into these without help.

If I remember rightly the SOE arc is mentioned in the rookie help channel motd.

Trying to know/experience everything in Eve is best accomplished by talking to people or spending months reading all the archived devblogs.

but what would I know, I'm just a salvager

CCP has moved away from the career agent tutorial way of doing things. Yes the agents are still there but it gave a false impression of the game. I agree with their decisions to move in a different direction.

The breadcrumb questline way of walking a player from the beginning of the game all the way to "end game" content has no place in a sandbox imho. It leaves players like yourself thinking that eve is just a ****** version of those other games.

To me it would seem that you need to get used to having to find your own way through this game. If you are looking for what you are supposed to do next then you are playing the wrong game as there are no "supposed tos" or "shoulds" in this game.

Eve is a sandbox and as such there is no one linear path from beginning to end like the other scripted MMOs with heavily structured game play. The lack of any hints or clues as to what you "should" do next is not by laziness or forgetting to. It is by design.

TL;dr
Stop looking for the game to tell you what to do next and find your own playstyle. If you can't make peace with that then you won't like this game much.

The last NPC in the SOE arc is a BC with a pretty good tank. you might have to ask for help, or come back in a cruiser, frigates have a tough time without very good skills.

I could do it in a iskhur but not a retribution.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

No there isn't. Only a hint from a carreer agent after finished these. I guess ist one of the Military Agents
which tell you to visit Sister Alitura in Arnon. Just fly there with your frigate, talk to Sister Alitura and start the Missions.

thanks for the responses guys! yeah i know there's no direction i "should" be taking as this is a sandbox game - but, so many people suggest the soe arc as an extended, almost necessary, tutorial.

i love the way it's designed btw. it's so much more satisfying being part of a world that doesn't hold your hand and encourages word of mouth.

I repeat the Sisters Epic Arc from time to time. To repair standings.

These are the important things about all the Epic Arcs:
- You can repeat them over and over after three months/90 days waittime.
- They give you a nice standings boost for the Faction (Caldari, Minimatar, Amarr, Gallente), the Arc is done.
- You get nice expensive items at the end (not the Sisters Arc, the other LvL 4 Arcs)

Important especially for the Sisters Arc (because they don't belong to one of the 4 Factions):
- The next to last mission at the end you can choose 4 different directions.
- The direction you go, decide for which of the 4 factions (Gallente, Caldari, Amarr, Minimatar) you earn a standings boost.

It is a way for newer players to earn decent isk. It takes you around the game physically to take you into different areas of space so you don't stay in or near you birth system for too long. It kind of forces you to deal with having **** all over and learning how to manage your ****. It forces you to use different ships and different fits for different things. In short it is a decent into to the game.

I did not say that it was a terrible thing nor useless. However the fact remains that while it is familiar to players from other games as it mimics the breadcrumb questlines, it also leaves one with a false impression.

The SoE epic arc iirc was released the day after I started playing this game which was spring to 2009. CCP thought differently about the NPE ( New Player Experience ) back then.

Again I am not saying that you should not do the SoE epic arc nor that they should remove it or anything. I'm just saying that it is not necessary for playing the game. It is just for players that are that lost in the game with no direction and no experience, it gets you out of our hair for long enough for you to develop intelligent questions. Then you can come back to us after dicking around with that mission line for a week or two ( for the more casual players ) and we can offer advice and at least have you comprehend what we are talking about.

For players more comfortable with experimentation and self-exploration the SoE arc may be less helpful but then again those players are typically not asking us what to do next.

TL;dr
The SoE arc is an easy way for us vets to answer the question "what should I do next" without having to explain to you that we really can't tell you what to do next. By the time that you come back to us hopefully you have a better idea of what you like doing.

With out giving away to much in spoilers, most of the SOE arc is delivery or simple combat missions but there are three missions where newer players need to be on their toes. One after twenty something missions and two near the end.

I believe all the player faction arcs require one to enter either lowsec or nulsec at some point. Typically for a courier mission, so one can choose to ship for speed & stealth.

The Sisters of EVE arc requires one to do missions in all four player faction areas of hisec, so one must not be an enemy of any of them.

Minmatar arc can be done entirely in hisec. It is a real PITA to do without incurring Amarr/Ammatar faction hits though.

I would not attempt any of these (other than the SOE new player arc) until you are able to handle level IV mission at a minimum.

be aware though that in-game many of us (and by that i mean almost all of us, myself included)
will ruin your day given the opportunity.

whilst doing the sisters arc as a newbro you should be left alone
but outside of that and the career systems you should be on your toes

yes even in highsec

eve is an open world sandbox and a lot of what would be considered "griefing" in other games is legitimate game-play here.

Most of the Sisters of EVE epic arc missions are doable in a frigate by a newbie, but towards the end of the arc you'll have to fight a few boss pirates that are hard. The idea is to make you think about how to fit your ship to defeat their tactics.

They're all doable in a t1 fit Dramiel, although you need a lot of projectile ammo at the end of the arc.

How much does a Dramiel cost?

They're doable in a T1-fit Tristan and / or a number of other common, cheap, newbie ships, but you have to think about it for a bit. I don't want to spoiler it, I just wanted to give a warning so he doesn't quit the game... The epic arc is easy, easy, easy, easy, doh I'm dead. And, dead again.
