Industry Index, falling and rising?

so, I was just curious, and I thought you guys could help me with this question:
What is the increase/decrease rate of the industry index in a null-sec solar-system?

Recently I've been trying to raise the industry index of a null-sec solar-system, but I'm having an increasingly hard time getting the index to rise more substantially, and when I log the next day all my work of that day seems to have been for naught.

Further more, is there a specific measurement in which the industry-index rises? (M3 mined, time-spent mining, combination of both, number of ships mining)
and how does it deteriorate? (in which measurement)

thanks for the help.

They recently changed the rates required to increase the index. I believe they left the decrease rate at roughly 25% of a level per day. That's what I've been seeing anyway

It's been a while since I was in null but for sure the index is calculated in m3 mined and the falloff rate of 25% is pretty much exact. The problem is/was that it's more like 1% every hour (24% a day) so if you mine say 4 hrs a day it's vastly different if you mine from 13 to 17 eve time (right after dt) or from 8 to 12 (right before) because in the first case by the time dt hits all your efforts would probably be washed out already.

Hope it makes sense.

Seems like it, by the looks of things... unfortunately I'm often mining at less-populated times and hardly anyone ever mines in the specific system I'm in.... guess I'll have to get a group together to mine more regularly.
Thanks for clarifying.

I *think* the calculation is derived from units mined as opposed to m3. This makes quite a considerable difference if all thats going on is ice mining.
