Do customs ships move around or are they stationed permanently at the gates at which they appear?

Is there any way to get past them without getting detected carrying contraband?

I've tried.

Most of the time they got me on the out-gate,
which seemed to happen mostly when it took too long for the jump to initiate.

At that point of course the cloak helped nothing, as I was too close to the gate.

Seeking alternative routes seems to be the best option.

Any of the fast T2 cloaky haulers. Speed fitted so it aligns like an interceptor.

De-cloak mid warp so you don't land bad/slow on the out gate

Been doing it for years, not caught once. Its easy, in the right ship.
