CCP I'd like a free subscription for life (but not for me)

We saw a 2004 toon this morning and this brought an alliance conversation about "how old is your toon" It happened we have some 2003 members who play EvE from beta. CCP never gave them anything! Not a badge, not a gift, nothing. Well I think there are not so many of these and they have proved loyalty more than enough and have paid enough plex to deserve a lifetime subscription. So this is what I would like people to support and hopefully CCP accept.

CCP really doesn't need to open that can of worms.

A gift? Maybe. Free lifetime sub? No.

If they do this, others will only ask for more.

I'm mixed whenever this thread theme comes up:

1. Vets have put a lot into creating the player generated stories and building the community and deserve some recognition and CCP could generate even more long term loyalty by rewarding the players that stick with the game.

2. CCP have already fulfilled their part of the relationship through the continued access and development of the game. The game now isn't what it was back in beta and the players have already benefited from what CCP has done to support their gaming.

3. Wait till the veteran station comes out Big smileBig smile

I'll go for 3. this time around, but since that isn't happening, that makes it 2. as well.

How about you cheapskates use your own money to buy him a year or two?

You should be embarassed of yourselves.

It's not like CCP shows any affection or consideration when it comes to older players and older EVE in general. Also, asking for free stuff makes you terrible.

I agree, those in question should receive some sort of cool ship skin rather than a free subscription, or maybe a few free months as well.

Why? I am not asking anything for me. I dont have a character that old. I thought a life subscription would be a deserved reward and I dont understand the terriblility of such an exception but the point is to give them something for their loyalty and if you think thats too much and rather give them something else, that would be sendible but, saying I am terrible is something I totally dont get.

A player from dawn of time has infinite isk. They have been around to use every broken money making mechanic that has existed. They have as much assets littered around new eden as an average pvp corporation. They shouldn't have any problems in buying a plex. Usually they do, and it's all the plexes in the market.

Am I right?

Who is it? I will send him a Fedo!

So it’s sorta social, demented and sad, but social. Right?

Well we obviously dont see things the same way. Seems more important than 'what I have' the thing 'others cannot have' I understand the cultural background where all this comes from. I am sorry also some see the only way to make isk is to find broken mechanics and my fault here was to honor those who imo are exceptional players and in such proportion I thought they deserve something as unique as they are. Fee subscription is too much? if you say so.

If you send me a fedo, please I want a female. I already have a male and I like them so much I would try to breed them. Thank you I will be advised to trippple check a contract from such gentle fellows.

They don't deserve it, though, especially b4cause they most likely can sub themselves with PLEX.

This thread theme is idiotic. It's not like these players never got anything out of this game.

This isn't a job that you hate. It's entertainment.

If CCP does anything, they should ban people from the forums for asking for free stuff.

They're not exceptional and they're not unique. They're just players who've stuck around for a long time — that is its own reward (or they would have left).

And yes, handing out the equivalent of 12bn+ ISK a year for no good reason to the people who need it the least definitely qualify as “too much.” If you want to honour them because you look up to them for some reason, by all means, do so. Just don't ask CCP for something you can do yourself.

To the other dude who spends his time participating in idiotic posts I wont bother to answer.

Exceptional, by definition, are those who are not the norm but the exception. I think the still alive Beta timers deserve the tag of exceptional by definition.

You think the equivalent of 12b+ isk a year is a lot? Fine, that is an opinion, but it would not be for not good reason. Now the reason I gave you may consider is not good enough. Fair enough, a legit opinion which I dont share.

By that definition, they should also give out free subscriptions to all new players. So why aren't you proposing that?

No, they're not exceptional — not even by definition — because there's nothing that really sets them apart from other players. Having been around for a while is not something special and, as mentioned, only demonstrates that they don't need to be “honoured” for just keeping themselves entertained.

No. I'm saying that it's too much. As in “there's no reason they should be given anything for free, and especially not something others struggle to raise.” Players being entertained by an entertainment product is not a reason to give that product away for free. Quite the opposite.

This is a competitive game, where the economy sits at the centre of the whole competition. You are suggesting that the people who are in the least need of aid in that competition should be given additional advantages just because they've been competing a bit longer than others. It's outright nonsensical. If you want to see them “honoured” then that can happen without affecting the economy or the competitive environment — give them pink text on the forums or something. Indeed, that would be the only way it could ever happen without being horribly ill-conceived and disruptive.

Well, yes. It would still be socially disruptive as people would covet this distinguishing mark intensely and rage over how long it would take to earn. I was speaking more of actual gameplay. P
