So all those big battles the developers put in the advertisements for this game don't actually happen anymore? Looks like I'm unsubscribing before my trial is up if I wanted PvE I would play Borderlands 2 or something.

No, that's not what's happening and the title of the article is misleading.

  • I find the title misleading, because "epic" is in the eye of the beholder. Do you define "epic" by the number of ships involved, by the size of those ships, by the ISK value destroyed, by the amount of activity you had ? There has never been just one way to do battles, mainly because of the different mechanics of high, low, null-sec, wormholes, faction warfare.
  • If you think that big fleet fights won't happen anymore, you're mistaken. Sure there is a push to design combat mechanics in a way to force individual pilots to be more active than just targeting the primary and hitting F1, but as long as big alliances can field several hundreds of players, they will continue to do so. War ... war never changes, but the meta does.
  • We're also waiting for Citadels and the changes to capital ships to be completed. We'll see how it will change the use of capital ships.
  • With the recent increase of grid size (that is the range at which you can see and click on ships in space and on your overview), it's likely that more of the fights will happen in visual range. Before we used to warp to bookmarks outside of the grid range during fights if we needed to change tactical positions. That should enhance the "epic" visual aspect but also allow the opposing fleet to adjust their tactics quicker.

Don't anger the forum gods.

I did not enjoy B-R it was epic in size and tidi but in terms of fun I have had more fun brawling in small gangs or solo most days

Why does the PvP graph end in February?

probably because it's from last fanfest?
Seems odd though. It's a modern article talking about increase PvP activity as if that's something that's happening now (at least as far as I could see when I skimmed it).
