The most Succesfull Alliance in EVE

Technically the goons did take over the CSM, get a bunch of CCP staff to put their mains in their ranks. Outright publish a tolerance/pro- goon botting policy WITH CCP employees in the alliance. God knows what other corruption CCP has been given to for their 'bros'

The only other alliance to do that to my knowledge was BoB, who in much the same way had Dev membership spawn t2 BPOs for them (t-20 incident)

Goons, BoB (and its iterations) and PL would be the more famous ones.

They've caused more history in EVE than other alliances have.

In my opinion being the most successful has nothing to do with Sov or ISK. Its more about being a dominate power, achieving goals and meeting expectations.

So for all we know the most successful alliance may one that we wouldn't think of at the top of our heads.

Triumvirate will always be the most successfull alliance (when it comes to pvp anyway) no one else even comes close

A lot of the posts here make me chuckle, especially the ones doing thing like referring to the NC in the present tense and claiming that alliances that don't deserve credit do.

The only alliances to ever impact the game immensely have been Goons, BoB, PL and the Russians, in their various incarnations and factions.

Everything else is background noise.

What odd metrics to use .. kind of limits the options.

CVA (and Co.) is the only alliance that has ever managed to civilize a large swath of space (civilized does not include being raving psychotics who shot on sight unless people are wearing the right colour underwear).

ASCN for being the first alliance to show the power of cooperation. They even managed to beat BoB's slave horde and got the first Titan .. something Molle saw that as a personal insult so the horde went and took all their stuff for the transgression.

BoB/Goons for the epic Love-Hate relationship that brought Eve what four or five years of almost non-stop cluster wide war.

Personal Note: PL are the stereotype skinheads of Eve .. they rampage through the sandbox with their army-boots and kick sand in every ones faces after smashing their castles "just because". Damn good at it though.

All time its BOB - because they spend so long being better than than anyone else has ever been.

Of the remaining alliances its either Red or Goons.

Pandemic doesnt count because they dont hold space. They may be right that its not worth while to hold space in terms of isk - but you dont get points for not playing.

Wrong it is...lol

I would have to say Red Alliance honestly. Them or PL.

You don't have to hold space to be the best alliance in EvE. PL has no intention of holding space because the don't NEED any sov to accomplish what they want and they are regularly beating the living **** out of people in nullsec.

I would almost agree with you there except they were cleared out by TCF who later gave away their space to Goonswarm. Which is why Goonswarm has their space at all. They didn't even earn it and this is why Goonswarm doesn't make the list.

Most successful is, imo, Band of Brothers. Alliances come and go, but I didn't like how BoB ended. But it accellerated their end anyhow.

I think Roadkill had great success. Controlling whole region of Geminate for over a year and booting anyone from it was awesome. Granted its crap region, but still! I still remember the "final" battle that sealed the fate of RK's end and I lost 5-6 vultures in the same battle to defend some strategic POS.

bob was a good washington generals of eve i suppose, once ASCN gave up that title, but that's pretty much the most positive thing you could say about them

not many alliances take on a newbie corporation without even any sov space and wind up being driven out of the game in response

LMAO

stopping the DRF pet deathball cold in its tracks after they annihilated the NC without any meaningful resistance is a whole lot more impressive than sov-warfaring a region to the ground. And of course, the Goons have done that a few dozen times too...

BoB. They were the best for so long.

Then CVA for being so unique in what they did.

PL are truly amazing at what they do, but as they refuse to take part in the nulsec game they are basically chickening out of consequences and reprisals, ie logging of with no risk does not equal winning.

Most famous is probably BoB and Goons, there war was a staple of EVE for a few years, and very famous mostly due to the enormous forum PR machine that was on both sides. Goons eventually beat BoB, then in a real irony basically became BoB mk2.

A few have mentioned CVA, they have/had done something unique granted, sticking with there whole nrds thing made there chosen area one of the most populated area's in nulsec a few years back, but they have also lost that area three times or so.

Who do I think is winning EVE, simple the Russians. Far as I know, they as a whole are the most unmovable block in eve, Some of the oldest alliances holding space for years and years, virtually untouched in so long. But saying that they suffer the same stagnant attitude of the big guns in that they wont attack another mega alliance.

Thats kinda the problem with who is truly winning EVE, none of the possible winners dare go against any of the other big ones, its all gone a bit stale cept for the occasional wtfpwn of some nobodies nothing is changing.

So need another mega war.

Rooks and Kings for the way they will stand against larger numbers. Just look how few members they have in the entire alliance - about 250 or so! Shocked

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Goon assembled outside EVE. That might be the case for all the successfull alliances in EVE. Much like effective fleet warfare hinged on teamspeak and 3rd party applications, EVE seems to be what you do beyond the game.
