The neural remap holiday gift choice

Erm...they haven't taken it away. It's been withdrawn while they re-align the remap delivery in accordance with what the majority of the playerbase anticipated.

And with regard to "doing the right thing" - they did. The "wrong thing" would have been to just roll out something that was not aligned with what people were expecting.

With respect, the only pure stupidity is your own.

It may not be her proudest moment, but our little EVE has a history of rewarding those that know how stuff works over those that think they know how stuff works.

Maybe one should try "I totally did not expect that" the next time one gets concordokkened as reimbursement petition text.

Hopefully it doesn't resets the timer, seems like some people would get too easy of a time with it then really. We shall see what it turns into though.

What's with the people who only read the dev blog and afterwards choose there holiday gift, without recognizing that they are missing a choice? Also why can't we change the selection of the holiday gift till the deadline? I can't see any good reasons for this decision but considering the temp. disabling of the remap choice it would have been a lot smoother if the selection could be changed till the deadline.

I also will be annoyed if i can't choose a neural remap this year, because last year my remap timer ended in February and the holiday gift was useless to me.

Thank you CCP for letting us know what is going on, my issue with this matter is likely a common one,

Last time CCP gifted everyone a remap, I was about 45 days from my next one, so I got 45 days off, which is nice of course, but not as cool as those with a remap already stored up, who then had 2 and a timer running. Now I am about 60 days from my remap ...

CCP is just trying to make people happy, cut them some slack.

In my opinion the best way to make people who redeem that gift happy would be to have the 'redeem gift' option give the player an ingame item (a little card that looks like a PLEX), which can be activated to give the character who possesses it either +1 remap (if a remap is currently already available) or an immediately available remap (if timer is active).

Plus, the item could be bought/sold via market and contracts which would make it... ahem, highly sought after and a preview of the market if CCP ever went the PLEX or GTC for remaps microtransaction route.

However, it's only 8 days until the 21st and putting that type of gift in now would be, well, a lot of effort for the programming team.

All of the gifts make sense, but I can't for the life of me figure out why there isn't an option of a 1 or 2 run BPC of the new BC's in the list?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly IS the current "not quite as intended" behaviour ?
Maybe we can suggest adjustments to make it fairer.

P.S. I would suggest something like this : add one free remap to everybody, if under 2, set to 2.

So, somebody that still has to wait until a remap would get to remap NOW and also remap again whenever they want to (set to 2 free remaps).
Somebody who could remap right now can still remap now and also remap again whenever they want to (set to 2 free remaps).
People who had 2 free remaps get set to 3 free remaps.
People who had 3 free remaps get set to 4 free remaps.

Yes, this gives some extra goodies for people with 0 free remaps, but then again, so what. It only enhances the benefits of the gift, which can't be a bad thing, or can it ?

From the sound of it, it appears that it doesn't add in as quite a +1 remap so that if you had 3 months left until your next remap, taking this gift would reset that timer. Obviously that isn't a great gift anymore.

I didn't interpret it that way. There was no 'might' in CCP Guard's message. What he said was:

"We are just looking at our options of improving the gift before it is distributed on the 22nd."

Although I do get the feeling that if it can't be 'fixed' to match expectation it may be withdrawn.

Personally, I have 1 remap ready to use now and I was anticipating having this 'gift' remap added, giving me a total of 2 remaps available. My intention is to use the gift remap for a short period to tidy up some charisma-centric skills, then use my regular remap for a skill plan that will last 1 year+. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is what will be delivered.

I gotta say CCP your Remap stuff has been total BS. In the past you gave them out with no warning, so those of us who had 1 saved got 2, but those who were 1 month away from getting one, got their timer restarted, you screwed both my accounts once. Now you gave them out to some, and some can't get it, pretty darn unfair. I have used Min Maxing to maximize my training on my other account and have gotten 10m more skill points then this char in just 2 years, and thats without being rewarded with your free remaps in the past... really really lame, dont know what else to say, nothing you can really do to fix it... except by giving everyone +1 remap and NOT RESETTING THEIR TIMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to criticize CCP and still manage to look like a complete idiot. You pulled it off, grats.

The day CCP learns that the greatest gift they can give their customers (and the surest way for them to ensure long-term profitability) is a great game, instead of free ****, or loot pinatas, is the day I can stop being the voice of reason on forums and can go back to actually playing the game for more than a few hours a week.

You have forgotten one thing: we're in the age of CCP reading comments. In the past, any complaints about the remaps were ignored. Be grateful they are listening now and take what you can get.

Unless CCP invents a time machine for the sole purpose of addressing and pass misfortunes that have fallen on you and your alts. Then, by all means, keep ranting.

Just remove the timer altogether and issue a new remap to everyone each December. You would never have to wait more than 365 days for a remap and you won't penalize anyone whose current timer is active.
