I'm quite excited about this, I enjoyed the first movie a lot despite how cheesy it got at times.

The fact that it's a sequel and not another reboot makes me happy too.

I'm such a huge fangirl I even stopped the trailer at halftime ...

Waitasec ... the aliens brought motherships in 1996. These are technically space carriers or mobile bases with big ass energy weapon. Where are the hunam space carriers? All I see in the trailer is just a conventional base that can be nuked by the aliens?? Again! *insert facepalm* .... Are they this stupid? So the hunams have space capable fighter/bombers and no space carrier, yeah right. *insert appropiate trollface meme*. Come on Hollywood, it isn't that hard to slot in space carriers or even anti-grav floating bases.

Also, seeing conventional winged fighters is getting old in movies. The alien crafts in 1996 didn't need wings to fly, obvious anti-grav vehicle and I'd conjecture their shields let them slip through the air like a bubble.
Less wing, more solid shapes please ..... and less cheese on top.

I'm happy for this, if for no other reason than that it might finally be a sequel that doesn't trample all over the previous content.
