Alt Character question

Hello, I'm very new to EVE. I started this character and skilled him up for Exploration. By Thursday this week, my Astrometrics will be level 4. But now, I'm noticing a hassle. The hassle stems from finding a site, going back to homebase, activating my combat ship and returning to the found site.

So I was thinking of creating my first alt which would be my PvP/PvE alt, skilled in guns and explosions.

I don't have the experience yet in playing this game. I'm in my sixth day. Is it advisable to have an Explorer alt and a Combat alt?

Not only is it a pretty good idea but even better of an idea to make your combat guy fly something like a T3 cruiser and to live out of an orca.

I'd say get into a corp before you start getting alts... there's a reason it's called a multiplayer game...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Instead of training an alt for that, I would suggest getting in an all-in-one ship, like an Arbitrator or Vexor, which you can do the probing in and then run the sites in without changing ships.

Certain Assault Frigates also work well (if you have the skills/ISK and prefer smaller and quicker ships).

Once you're properly skilled and well funded, T3s are the typical end goal of all-in-one explorers (with Ishtars being right up there with them too).

Thanks all. Have been researching all day. I'd like to stick with one account even though there's a lot out there who has more than one. I'd like to experience EVE, not make it like work or a grind.

And yes, corporations are out there, but I'd like to explore on my own for now before I sign my name to a corp. Smile

If you want to do it right on one account, head for a T3...it's a blast.
