In the time you have been away from New Eden a wise man by the name of James 315 has begun a revolution in Highsec. A revolution to create content and bring danger back into the "safe" part of space. The New Order of Highsec aims to rid New Eden of bot-aspirancy, AFK mining, AFK freighting and AFK mission running and create a more exciting, dangerous and all-around better experience in high security space for everyone. As a result of this effort highsec content creation and miner ganking is now a regular, everyday occurrence.

In the future I would also recommend purchasing a Mining Permit. Contact your local New Order of Highsec Agent for details.

Mackinaws are a gank magnet, so if you are going to use one, semi-AFK is not the way.

If you want to semi-AFK mine, then use a Procurer and tank it. It'll take a bit longer to mine the same amount, but if you are doing other things anyway, then it's the better option.

This, with a T2 fit skiff (T1 rigs) you'll go over 112,000 EHP (over 116,000 EHP vs. catalysts) with good skills and no implants or boosts. Chances are they'll go for the softer targets. Procuror, even cheaper, can get to 91,000 EHP omni/catalysts; again they'll likely go for the softer targets.

In contrast a Mack will maybe get you close to 40,000 EHP (you'll likely need a CPU implant and you wont fit any mining upgrades), and your mining yield wont be all that much worse. If you fit for yield, might as well just self destruct periodically, you'll get about the same effect, IMO.

Edit: Yeesh, I just looked at the mack fit. No damage control? You had an empty mid slot too... yeah, you'll out mine the procurer or the skiff but also lost 211 million ISK, how much ice/ore will you need to mine to make it back.
