Maybe I'm an old fart... but changing a name because it happens to share similarity to a terrorist organization is just terrible form.
It goes back to the whole "stick a feather in your hat and call it macaroni" thing I guess. Take power away from the word by owning it yourself and flaunting it.

(Note:If there is another reason why they'd change the name disregard above comment. Couldn't find a link where this was discussed)

You are absolutely right. It is bad form.
However, CCP is a business and support tickets matter,

If enough people wonder, maybe not even complain, then they'll change it just to reduce the load.

Perhaps if CCP wouldn't have focussed on attracting more mainstream clowns then a larger portion of their customers would have the brain cells to not whine about it, and they wouldn't have to adapt the game to accommodate said clowns more and more and more and more and more and more and more.

I agree, EvE's ISIS will be around much longer than the IRL group so why change the name. It's a bit unfortunate sure but we've had it this way for like a year or two and at least some countries have already switched to calling them Daesh so it's a bit late for the change.

Did you just read it on the forum, or on Reddit?

The question was first asked on Reddit and Falcon responded there. Employees don't have to be tied to their jobs and it's totally possible that in just doing their normal things as people, that they also happen to respond to questions, just because they can, even outside work.

We can't expect them to not use social tools they normally use just because we have a preference for this forum.

There's also often a lot of chat between players and CCP employees on Twitter and in slack. They are people just like we are and have every right to be socially connected in the way many players are.
