Building Better Tools - Ore Chart

Hello space friends,

Third party tools play a big part in EVE. The good ones are invaluable resources. The outdated, bad, cumbersome ones are not.

Being a Computer Science major I decided to take on a little side project to create better tools for the EVE universe, starting with an Ore Chart. These tools are made using my two token design elements: Accuracy and Simplicity.

Ore Chart

Features
Arrow Prices update via CREST every 15 min from each of the four major trade hubs.
Arrow Everything is laid out in front of you, no need to navigate through many different windows to change the settings or location.
Arrow All the information you need, in one place.


This is still a work in progress. Any suggestion, problems, or general feedback would be appreciated.

I still need to make a homepage for my site. This is also my first tool so the URL may change in the future when the homepage is done and other tools are made.

Disclaimer: While it is super accurate, some of the yields will be 1 unit off due to CCP only showing 2 decimals on their rounding.

#ToDo
1) Add sorting to columns
2) Figure out how to use cookies to save refining variables

#Completed
1) Isk/m3 column
2) Compressed Ore/Ice
3) Give skills their own tab to reduce some clutter and improve visuals on other browsers and different resolutions
4) Highlight the row that cursor is over to aid in readability of data
5) Add in refining implants

Thank you for your work. I really appreciate the effort you have put into this.

3 requests:

1) set all of the isk numbers to have the same number of decimal positions - right now on the Mac I see anything from 0 to 3 positions, which makes things hard to line up.

2) include POS facilities in high sec

3) allow the value to be set to same volume, rather than just batch size - this will help people decide how much value will fit in various ships.

The decimals was my fault, will be fixed a bit.

I had someone else suggest the POSs facilities, I will look into it as im pretty sure its the same as a station just with a fixed rate. i.e. if you are refining in a POS set the station setting to .52 for normal.and .54 for Intensive.

Rgr, will add in a isk/m3 column for the raw values, should help with figuring out what to mine.

Just a minor nitpick, Can you include a modifier for implants?

Updated the page with some changes:

Arrow ISK/m3 is now live on the ores.
Arrow Added compressed Ice and Ore tabs. They will stay as their own tab until I can think of a better way to display them.
Arrow Made all the skills have their own tab. This should help with compatibility on different browsers and resolutions as well.

If you notice any bugs etc let me know

Updated the page:

Arrow Now highlights the row you hover the cursor on, should help with readability.
Arrow Refining implants are in, are under the skills tab at the bottom.
Arrow Some back end stuff.

Dont worry im still alive and bring some further updates:

Arrow Chart has been moved to a more permanent URL /Tools/OreChart. So make sure you update your bookmarks.
Arrow CREST endpoint is now fixed so prices ~should~ be up to date again.
Arrow Prices will now update every 15min.


I still need to work on the css part of it as i hear its kinda borked for higher/diff res than 1080p

Also please let me know if you have other suggestions/ideas.
