This stupid mistake just costed me one billion. I made a sale order of an item for 1.400.000 isk instead of the 1.400 isk intended. The item had a number of units that made a broker fee for a total of 1.06 billions.

I think this has been my biggest boo ever.

Well I can ask, but I doubt I'd get anything back. My only hope is the owner of Outpost has mercy one me but I dont claim any right. It was my mistake.

If it was in a player-owned outpost in null sec then yeah, it's very unlikely CCP will reimburse broker's fees as they would have gone to a player corp.

From my experience and from what I've heard from others, CCP will only reimburse if there is no net addition of isk into the game. If your mistake was putting up a sell order 10b above what you wanted, ccp will reimburse market fees as it's just putting the fees back into your wallet. If you sold an item 1b below what you wanted to another player...well you're out of luck as if ccp were to reimburse you there would be a gain of isk into the game.

The only thing to do is be careful. As careful as I am, I still lose about 5b every year to typos. Fortunately, I receive much more in return on a monthly basis. Last month I received an extra 8b from others that I know of (five of which were over 1b), if they're small bonuses under 300 I usually won't notice them.

My favorite so far was a plex someone sold me last month for 12isk. Not 12 thousand or 12 million, just 12.

I once lost 100m in a typo while trying to beat a sneeze while typing in an order.

... only if you don't touch the order.

Don't cancel it.

The CEO of such corporation has paid in full the amount with no further questions. There are indeed good people in EVE.

Kudos for solving the problem without government intervention. It is the Gallente way.

It was a painful enough mistake that I no longer make that many typos.Big smile

From personal experience, it doesn't matter even if you cancel the order thereafter, or carry on your other trading and have logs in after that, or even if you resell the item with a modified (proper) value.

Put in a ticket with the appropriate details to help them along, even if it may not entirely be necessary for them to use on their end (such as log date, time, the isk broker fee value, etc).

Then wait and give them some time, up to a couple of days or maybe longer. You'll be reimbursed. Just learn from this and try not to make the same mistake again afterwards.

Edit: This works if you vastly overvalue the item from my experience. If you undervalue and it gets sold you're out of luck.

New rule: I'll deposit big sums of money in a separated account before step into the market.

As Shakespeare said: "All is well that ends well".

P.S. 7 billion... ouch.
