With my part in the Succession Trails complete, I would like to thank and acknowledge some of the supporters of myself and my retainers. With three other Team Captains being chosen from within PIE, and those Captains recruiting some of their retainers from within PIE, our initial pool of training partners was quite limited. That said, I hope the following pilots understand how greatly we appreciate their help in preparing for our first and subsequent matches -

  • Lt Charles Surge - I am thankful that among the many teams of PIE, you chose to be the practice partner and adviser to Team Sarum. I will be eternally grateful for your time and energy you put into making my team better.

  • Lt. Maria Daphiti of PIE, Inc - Having you to skirmish against in our sims was priceless and the fact you made yourself available to us was a blessing. You continue to bring honour to both PIE and your family, it has been a pleasure to work with you in all things, Lt.

  • Ms Katerina Tzestu of Reikoku - Under most circumstances you and I would tend to be hostile towards one another, but my teammate Alizabeth Vea spoke highly of you and your trustworthiness regarding the sanctity of these proceedings. Please accept my thanks for being such an able sparring partner.

  • Ensign Stush T of PIE Inc - I believe I speak for all the teams of PIE when I say thank you for your generous contributions to our respective coffers.

  • Praefecta Lunarisse Daphiti of Societas Imperialis Sceptri Coronaeque - Without your initial and continued monetary support, my team would not have been able to field nearly as many of the mighty vessels as we were able.

When the field had narrowed to just the six Champions of each House, I was humbled and amazed at the amount of offers of assistance, so much so that we frankly had more help than we could utilize. To those we did turn away, please understand the gesture was very welcome and appreciated. So, in addition to the aforementioned pilots, allow me to acknowledge the following people for their work with us during the second week of the Trials -

  • Divine Commodore Flyinghotpocket of Amarrian Vengeance - Though we faced each other as enemies during our first match, know that you have always, and continue to have, my utmost respect. I am happy to have you as a wing man in the 24IC and am thankful for your help in preparing my team for our bouts in week two.

  • Ms Ayallah of SniggWaffe - A friend of Holy Mother Alizebeth Amalath, I am glad we could set aside our differences even if only temporarily.

  • Lady Stewardess Morwen Lagann of Tyrathlion Interstellar - You are a friend to my husband and a retainer of his own team, and though I do not feel the same as my husband towards you, please accept my genuine thanks for your input and time spent with my team.

  • Senior Captain Laerise Fierach of PIE, Inc - Your knowledge of Amarrian engineering is second only to your combat ability. Your contributions, both financial and tactics, were most welcome. Thank you.

  • Ms Seraphim Risen of Scope Works - We have spoken only briefly regarding the Order of Jamyl, I hope you continue your journey in Faith and thank you for your participation during our simulations.

  • Ensign Valeria Aelahl of PIE, Inc - I was happy to have another Praetorian assist in our simulations, thank you.

  • Lord Admiral Gaven Lok'ri of PIE, Inc - You have served as a mentor to me since my early days as a Praetorian, I am forever in debt to you for your teachings and patience.

  • Commander Arline Kley of PIE, Inc - Though you did not participate directly, your support meant a great deal to me.

  • Captain Aldrith Shutaq of PIE, Inc - What can I say... I shared your grief that you and your team did not continue on as Champions of House Kor-Azor. Yet, your Heir may yet ascend to the Throne, so take heart in that. You will never know the amount of appreciation and respect I have for you to have set aside your own thoughts about which Heirs should, and should not, become the next ruler of Amarr in order to fully back my team with your expertise. I am proud to have you as a supporter, as a wing man, as a husband, as a friend.

Most importantly, I would like to say a few words about my retainers. Through this ordeal we have forged a comradery that I could never have imagined, I love you all, Brother and Sisters. I am honoured and humbled that you came of your own accord to serve as my retainers. I could not have asked for a better team or better friends, I pray that I was the Captain you had hoped.

Commander Arsia Elkin of PIE Inc - Before the beginning of this process, I knew of your prowess as a combat pilot having flown with you on occasion in the warzone and hearing others in the Praetoria speak of you. Now having gone through these Trials with you with our incredibly focused matches, I shall sing your praises as well. You fight with such grace and magnificence it is truly a sight to behold, it is a tribute to your noble heritage. May God continue to bless you and your endeavors.

Captain Raphael Ordo of PAUX - Given our opposite shifts, up until now we have had little interactions. Needless to say, I am happy that we overcame this obstacle. I could not be happier with your performance and was very impressed with your piloting. Being the primary small ship pilot on the team and keeping your ships from being destroyed was nothing short of amazing. You are a credit to your race and to the Faith. You are an example for all to follow.

Divine Commodore Alizabeth Vea - Thanks be to Praefecta Lunarisse Daphiti for forwarding your desire to serve House Sarum. I would have rejected 'a Goon' outright had it not come through her. After our initial meeting it was clear you were to be the third retainer. Your passion for seeing His Highness Lord Sarum ascend to the Throne was matched only by your commitment to furthering your Faith. I have never met a more competent Guardian pilot, and your demonstrated skills throughout the Trials left me knowing the God *did* bring you to this team.

To all of Team Sarum,

Though we ultimately failed to achieve our goal, we could not have accomplished what we did without each and every one of you. Thank you for all you have done. I hope you are as proud of this team as I.

God Bless.

-Admiral Mitara Newelle-Shutaq, PIE Inc.

What a well-written thread, compared to the usual nonsense on IGS these days. A credit to all involved.

I was honored to support Team Sarum. I was pleased by your efforts. I congratulate you on your successes.

While in the end it was not God's Will that you make it to the Succession Finals, be assured, you will fly together forever.

Yes, congratulations on your "success", I'm sure the Sarum heir could have hoped for a bit more, though.

So, you're a bounty hunter. No, that ain't it at all. Then what are you? I'm a bounty hunter.

As will all of the Heirs save for one. For the success you seem to question, my team did succeed in becoming the Champions of House Sarum, and I believe it is safe to say that out of the four teams vying for that position, we were considered the least likely to do so.

There were six teams. There is one winner. While I wish we had made it to the finals, I am not ashamed of how we did. I offered my life to the Admiral out of obligation, not shame.

Though I'm not a strong political supporter of House Sarum Lady Newelle and those pilots she herself chose represented their liege lords in a dignified, earnest, and humble manner. They have through this representation have done House Sarum a great credit.

I don't think Lord Merimeth Sarum could have asked for more noble champions. If all such Sarumites are as dedicated in their service then House Sarum will remain a powerful driving force within the Empire forever more.

What fills the soul? Something that guides a lost child back to it's parents arms. Or waves that dye the shores of the heart gold. A blessed breath to nurture life in a land of wheat. Or the path the Sef descend drawn in ash. In the wake of fire.

There are better uses of your time than to mock one of our own, or her teammates, for being four of only twenty-four pilots in the Cluster to have made it that far.

Could you have done better?

House Sarum has already once brought the Empire to the brink of destruction with its horrific 9th Generation Slave Manumission. The guiding hand of the God at the Trials insured that House Sarum would not finish off the Empire with its vile policies.

Better? Probably. I just found it ironic, all the back-patting congratulations at how well a bunch of immortal capsuleers did while the man they were fighting for now sits in lock-down waiting his time to commit ritual suicide.

Y'all just carry on with your party.

Such is the cost of ambition. How's that saying go? Don't fly what you can't afford to lose?

Nauplius, chill. You are way to hard up about that whole sacrifice-the-slave thing. You don't need to sacrifice anyone to appease the red god. Trust me, I'm married, I deal with it every month. Chocolate and flowers work just fine. If she's being really difficult, a back rub and a chick-flick also work.

Winds and Ancestors, why did you have to say that? Now every gesture of sympathy over the next two months is going to be received suspiciously!
