After the new Launcher update it is not working with default Wine anymore, because of some QT related error
Here are the steps to make it work again with Wine:

Applications, set Windows version to XP.
Libraries: dbghelp (disabled), msvcp100 (native, buildin), msvcr100(native, buildin)

Still works for me. Not affected by update.
Admittedly over time the prefix ended up with a bunch of overrides and probably some kind of dotnet installs.
Current overrides are atl120, mscoree, msvcp120, msvcr120, vcomp120, d3d11. Most of them probably have nothing to do with EVE though.

On November 25th we have deployed an update to the beta launcher. If you haven't heard about this new EVE Launcher before, please check out the dev blog.

If you have already installed the beta launcher it should update itself automatically - otherwise you can install the latest version:
* Windows (https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-984818.exe)
* Mac (https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-984818.dmg)

The update has the following changes, fixes and additions:
- Better handling of file errors, offering to fix permissions
- Added network diagnostics to help track down network issues
- Added support for translations (text is not fully translated yet)
- Added an option to minimize to tray
- Prevent multiple instances of the launcher
- Added an option to force the client to use DX9
- Improved the logging window
- Server list and process views are now a standalone windows
- Settings folders for clients no longer have the server ip numbers in their name
- Fixed issue with download everything stalling

Changes to the UI include:
- New design
- Server status information updates more frequently
- MOTD icon button and notifications moved to upper right corner
- Added patch notes link
- Rearranged buttons based on user feedback
- EULA buttons no longer disappear under ads

We welcome you to check out this new beta EVE Launcher and let us know what you think!

please make sure future releases pull all cached data over including overview settings, portraits, UI settings and graphics settings.

Thanks.

The MOTD popup placement is still awkward when you have the launcher at its most "compact" size. It overlaps the account list so its visually annoying. If at least there was an option to never show the popup without clicking the button that would be great. I honestly don't care for the eve news personally.

.. perhaps just color the baloon to red when there is something new or something :)

The new version of the beta launcher is still erroneously saying that I never logged from this IP if mistype my account password. It should instead give the message that I entered wrong username or password.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

I think that's intentional from an account security standpoint. It lets someone who is attempting to gain access to your account, or is randomly trying to brute force usernames or passwords think that they have correct un/pw combo even when they don't.

I've noticed similar behavior when I misstype the account name. It goes through like it took the password, asks for a character name, and then kicks me back out.

Ideally a login system wouldn't provide any feedback that would allow an attacker to determine what value was incorrect, username, password, token, character name etc.

The material design is strong here P
Also, it would be nice if the Eve time was displayed somewhere on the launcher.

Yo.

So, could you make it so the launcher remembers what server I had selected after closing? Maybe as a opt-in setting? Right now it defaults to TQ every time I open it.

I almost did something extremely stupid on TQ because I thought I was on SISI.

Lol the exact opposite was asked at the begining of the beta when it remembered... yeah I guess option should be to check a 'set as default server' check box in the list of servers, or an option in settings

You can only log in to a test server by selecting it. If you don't select to log in to it you are on TQ.
No need for more check boxes.

You can't "accidentally" log in to TQ but you can "deliberately" log in to a test server.

Could it be any more simplified?

Can we please have a system to copy settings to all characters either by account or the whole lot. It a pain having to setup the same settings on all characters.

Today, I noticed that the launcher icon in the task bar showed a progress bar in the background, while the progress bar in the launcher itself was completed and the launcher said it's Ready. What kind of stuff is the launcher doing in the background in these cases?

Yes, now that I understand that it defaults to TQ I won't **** up again.

That said, an opt-in setting that allows players that want to set their default server to something other than TQ wouldn't hurt. For those who complained about it defaulting to whatever you had used last it won't change a thing, since the current behavior will stay as the default.

For those who want to temporarily change their servers, they will have the opportunity to do so.

Everyone wins.

I assume so, but I don't have a problem with account security but with the launcher openly lying to me that I logged from a new IP address. To me, it's not an additional step in security but badly designed user interface, especially when you consider that my senses tell me I will save few seconds if I hit "cancel" in case I typed the wrong password instead of typing my character name.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Launching all accounts (2 for me) while file's aren't ready yet, will give popup, but also launch one client (bottom one for me), after files are loaded.

Besides being a little slow to load, (I think this is a server issue I'm having), it's great. I really like this version and it makes logging in with multiple accounts super easy. Also, allowing log in to the test server from the same interface is a big win.

I would move the MOTD somewhere though, it overlaps stuff and gets in the way. I'm fine with it but it covers the bug report/feedback area and the login section.

Big leap forward though. Really like it.

If you have your launcher fullscreen, minimize it to tray and then bring it back it won't be fullscreen anymore.
In-launcher patch-notes would be very nice.

Another small request: It would be very nice to be able to see the server time on the launcher. This helps with determining the relevance of information on the popup when CCP events are going.
