Hi there Big smile

Does anyone have any experience with a 4K monitor setup?

I've done a little research and would love some thoughts on budget end system requirements to cope with just running eve (no other games). Could you also clarify whether they are able to also run lower resolutions (I would also like to hook a PS4 up to the screen).

Due to how new they appear to be I'm wondering whether it's better to wait some time instead of jumping in now. I'm running eve on a work laptop at the moment so have the opportunity of getting either a new system or new laptop and avoiding the 4K thing altogether.

Thanks,
Cpt

I saw someone with an incredibly high resolution laptop and the game worked and looked fine. The UI was a bit small even after being scaled up to the max. If you have great eye sight it should be fine though. :P

If I where you, I would spend that money on a new laptop with a 4K capable GPU and wait a couple of years until 4K monitors become the standard and prices are as low as ~$250.

Thanks for the input Big smile

Think I'm heading down the laptop route, looks like you need dual high end gpu's to get 60htz screen refresh which is out of my price range for now!

I just bought 3 4k monitors for my computer this last cyber monday, I have yet to get them but im hoping my rig can support everyhting i do currently on my computer. I usually have 3 eve clients open and occationally put two on one screen overlapping to play like league of legends or gta online. multiple other games but usually if i play a high end game i close all other applications

I also have a 1080p tv connected in the background always connected only used when im not using it for xbox or cable

current setup is a
i7 3970k 6core dual thread 3.4 overclocked to 4.2 (Water cooled)
16gb ram
ssd sata 3 for main drive 2 hdds for other stuff
dual 980 superclocks in sli

so pretty hefty rig i just dont know how well it will run with 4 screens 3 of which 4k

4k is the future it may take a little bit to become the norm but you wont be able to avoid it forever, the real question is if you want to start investing in it now or just wait till its the new norm and it gets a little cheaper
