For real (well, as real as Smedley goes).

Massively: Smedley's new game won't have microtransactions

“I am tired of having my conversations with players be about money. I want it to be 100 percent about the game”

Touching!

“Life is too short to spend a lot of time arguing about monetization. I’m done doing that”

Moving!

“I’m done putting features in a game and having people wonder if they were put in to help monetize or make it more fun”

Thrilling!

“F2P is a very tough business, but it’s tougher on game developers than you may realize. No one wants to work on monetization”

You tell us...

Poor F2P. It's been unloved by one of its most vocal apologists! Who's gonna rip open the wallets of unsuspecting players now?

PS: Smed's new game will be buy to play, and the price set are 20 $. Make your own guesses...

Buy to play? What? You mean like how things used to be only 5 years ago when you paid for a game and got a mostly complete product?

Yeah, totally nutballs. Wonder what's gonna be next, games without patches 'coz they work off the shelve? Shocked
