Firstly I would like to recognize my team. I was a solo pilot interested in this tournament, so I reached out into the community and aria Yatolila invited me to join their team that they had already started. They are all French and I am Canadian so they spoke English on comms for my benefit (I do actually speak French, but not well enough to play EVE completely in French :P). It turned out to be a great combination that I was selected as champion and they had accepted me into their team. They are all excellent pilots, and it was an honour to compete in this tournament with them.

Congratulations to Kelon Darklight for his dominant performance, and to Lysus for an epic comeback. Of course, huge credit to all the house champions, and to every pilot who participated in the tournament.

To CCP, thanks for hosting a tournament with such a different and accessible format. I don't just speak for myself when I say that this change of pace is very much appreciated. Going into a tournament for the first time and placing a close 3rd was really a thrill, and as such I really have nothing to complain about.

Cheers,
Damassys

Super sad you guys didn't make to the finals. Having Khanid on the throne would have REALLY shaken things up for us! Smile

This was an amazing event. Many thanks to CCP for having the players so tightly wound around such a major story line. I really, really enjoyed the format of the trials and I hope CCP utilizes something similar in the future for other events.

Congratulations to Kelon and Lysus, enjoy Fan Fest, we are all looking forward to a great matchup and a new Emperor/Empress!

Thanks to all the teams for flying, and to all the viewers who tuned in.

And of course big thanks to the production crew, the commentators, and the community team who made it happen.

Too much fun.

Just to hop in this thread.

It was a pleasure flying in this tournament with some great pilots and against many many more. I loved being a part of it and the fights were some of the most intense eve moments I've experienced in my time. I'm super happy for both Kelon and Lysus and I wish them both well in the final.

A few people have asked me if I'd do it again knowing we'd go 2-5 (0-5 the second weekend) and I absolutely would. We were out-flown and out-meta'd by five amazing teams who all deserved their wins. Regardless of our results I had a great time and wouldn't change it.

Thanks to everyone at CCP who made this happen.

I flew for Kador and it was a lot of fun. Even tho we went 0-5 on the second weekend we enjoyed ourselves Big smile

Thanks to CCP for putting the time into doing this. It seemed Fozzie had a lot of fun creating the rule-set and I think the second weekend format is really excellent, and suited a 4-man tournament perfectly.

Looking forward to watching the finals and the 'completely mental' rule-set Fozzie has promised.

Couple of (hopefully constructive) suggestions for future tournaments of this kind -

1) Whilst I realize this was quite a unique format that is unlikely to be repeated, the round robin, while different and interesting, it definitely produced a bit of a 'meh' attitude on day two for us. After losing the first two matches it was really hard to maintain focus (i.e. give a ****) as the likely hood of going through to the finals still was very slim. After going 0-3 I think it's safe to say none of us really cared about the outcome of the further matches, which snowballed into a 0-5 at the end of the weekend. It was definitely a reflection of the amount of preparation and thought we had put into this compared to other teams, it was still fun to take part. My suggestion in the future would be to make the prizes for 3-6th place on a sliding scale (4 magnates for 3rd, 3 for 2nd etc) to motivate teams to put their very best into each match. Either that or making the second weekend simply a double or single elimination.

2) Commentators. Whilst the enthusiasm CCP commentators had for the tournament is not in doubt, I kind of feel if CCP are going to put the effort into organising these events they should put on the best show they can - the players have shown they have got the skills to help with this so make more use of them in future!

Although myself and my lads were knocked out in the Ardishapur final, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the league stage.

Thanks again to CCP for organising everything and to the teams for making the fights so enjoyable.

Was a super fun event, kudos to everyone who was in it. May I suggest doing something similar for gallente/caldari? The premise could be a corporate event for advertisement. Would allow more tournaments like this in the future.

Hey CCP Falcon, thanks for the shoutout on the o7 show :D

Mitara: we actually didn't even know we were officially out of the finals when we fought you because we weren't watching the stream... just focusing (or scrambling :P) on our final composition... heh

I saw that there are a few writeups from the perspective of some of the participants... I haven't had a chance to check them all out yet, but I will, and I have high-quality footage (with comms) of most of our matches that I may or may not make public ;) stay tuned.

Real life got crazy when I returned to it from my Amarr Champion binge... so I've just recently gotten around to checking out some of the writeups from other tournament participants. Great stuff.

As I mentioned in my last post, I have in fact made my own gameplay footage public. Here is a full playlist (except the very first match which I failed to capture):
