A Brief Introduction

As I suddenly find myself of some importance within the Amarr Empire, I feel that I should make a short post to introduce myself. Some here might know me, or knew me in the past, however the intervening years have produced some measure of changes.

Shortly after the new year in YC115, in remorse and penance for my previous actions, I underwent the Tea Maker Ceremony to divest myself of my family and hopefully restore to my ancestors some of the honor that I had lost them. When my clone was reactivated, the memory scan applied was the original scan taken when I graduated the School of Applied Knowledge. From then, I moved to Goonswarm Federation and Deklein.

I still felt ties to my homeland, even if I was banished from it. I worked to move refugees and displaced activists from Heth’s reach into a colony in Deklein and to provide for them. I even did my best to mobilize a fleet to save Shiigeru, though it was not enough to save it.

I was a decent enough combat pilot and given my background in the Caldari Navy Marines before going to the School of Applied Knowledge, it was decided that I would make a good staff officer. So, in the run up to the invasion of Fountain, I was made a military sub-director and then later a full member of CFC’s Skyteam. However, the demons of one’s past cannot be outrun.

My time in the Marines and in the assault on Caldari Prime in Y110 left me a scarred woman. I freely acknowledge this now, though I denied it before. And if the number under my command that were killed on Caldari Prime was too much, the numbers of crew on the fleets I was sending out to die was staggeringly worse. One night, after looking at the battle reports, I left the headquarters in B-D and drank and drugged myself into a stupor.

It was a Ni-Kunni nun that found me in the lower decks, passed out with half my uniform missing, the other half ruined. Though I told her that I didn’t want any help from a God botherer, she more or less insisted, and to be fair, I was not in a state to refuse help from anyone. To her credit, though, she didn’t actually spend any time preaching, just helped me to shower, get a fresh set of clothing and a nice bed to lay in while my body processed all the alcohol and drugs out. When I left two days later, she gave me a Scripture primer to take with me, but didn’t even insist that I read it.

Of course, I would, since I am a naturally curious sort, and later a pattern would arise where I would knock on Sister Rahama’s door, quite intoxicated, and spend the night talking to her. The subjects were varied and mostly not about God or religion. To her credit, though, she never turned me away and always listened. It would not be until the war’s waning days that I was finally ready to talk to her about the Amarr faith. We had just gotten to the meat of the matter when GSF redeployed back home to Deklein. I asked Sister Rahama to come with me, but she insisted her place was in B-D.

So, I would make the trip down to B-D at least once a week to speak to her. With her help, I have been sober for one year, eight months, and thirteen days. She pushed me to get medical help for my post traumatic stress. And, one year ago, she baptized me into the Amarr faith. I do not think that it would be an understatement to credit Sister Rahama, and by extention the Amarr religion, with saving my life. It was always a message of hope that she preached; that the demons and evil of my past would be washed clean when I submitted to God, and it is this message of hope that I carry with me.

Welcome to the faith, Sister Alizabeth! May it bring you as much peace as it has brought to me.

Kindness is a powerful force and influences us to better things.

The Amarrian missionary who comes to visit the Estates and minister to our Ni-Kunni and Minmatar employees (there are many of the latter, escaped slaves mainly, who having achieved freedom and employment, retain their Amarr faith) is a humble and kind man. He has the rare ability to suspend judgement and listen mindfully, virtues much as your nun offered to you. I think he has retained more lost souls for the faith than most of the fire-breathers put together.

Kindness. If only it was at the heart of the Amarr faith as it should be, rather than the brutality, degradation and denial of choice that slavery and reclamation are in practice.

Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country.

It is still there however many willingly choose to overlook it in favor of the Empire's militaristic pursuit and what is perceived by outside entities as a practice that does not align with their ideals.

In the last weeks alone several such capsuleers have shared their stories in this manner whom were born the Empire's borders but have entered the fold and joined with the Amarr of their own volition after experience that kindness you spoke of.

What fills the soul? Something that guides a lost child back to it's parents arms. Or waves that dye the shores of the heart gold. A blessed breath to nurture life in a land of wheat. Or the path the Sef descend drawn in ash. In the wake of fire.

I usually have little tolerance, or trust for that matter, for abstinents and zealots.

Most of you lot make for such horribly boring conversation partners.

However, I'm glad to hear you're alive and content, Alizabeth; for all it's worth. Good luck with your future endavours.

Emphasis mine. Care to clarify? Right now it reads as if your conversion to the Faith single handedly saved it from destruction.

It was Sister Rahama and the Amarr faith that saved my life. I have edited my original post for clarity.

I might say that to judge the Amarr Empire over slavery or decry racial and imperial subjection while at the same time remaining ignorant of its arts, literature, poetry, philosophy, religion and sciences then one might fail to see that the Empire is just as humanist as the Federation.

Without any moral or ethical judgement, Imperial slavery is just part of the Amarrian preference to base their society on a high degree of cultural and political homeostasis.

I remember your efforts during the Fountain War, Alizabeth. You did well by us, and I wish the best for you going forward.
