Awesome job!

I see you transplanted the dual web arty Firetail fit to a Slasher. Good thinking!

May I just say, you are a real inspiration to new players. This thread has brought out some of the best advice I've seen from the excellent posters, and your kill noted above, plus your killboard shows that with hard work and listening, one can improve to the point of making a solo kill.

I only hope i can learn as well as you do - but thank you (and to those who have posted advice) for the good example.

Very good advice here and congrats to the Firetail kill Big smile

One thing I want to add, maybe venturing a bit in other regions of FW ... just around Kinakka you find all the elite PvPers. Search and try fighting players of your age.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Kinakka area is full of linked shitlords. Roam elsewhere. Slashers and rifters are trash. Anyone who says otherwise is nitpicking on the assumption of specific matchups that you won't find often enough to justify the effort. The best minmatar T1 is the breacher; there are multiple viable fits and I don't fly it so I can't tell you which is best.

The Federation Navy Comet is the god of frigates. Specifically, the AB scram kite variant with 150MM rails, dual mag stabs and SAAR. The blaster variant is fun (350 DPS on a frigate is always fun) but the rail comet reigns supreme with its amazing versatility and application. It can engage at all ranges, and the foundation of a 4k EHP hull tank + another 3k from shield/armor and heated SAAR makes it one of the toughest frigates in the game. With two flights of light drones for added mobile firepower, this ship, when properly fit and flown, can outfly and outfight any other T1 or navy frig in the game and can go toe to toe with some pirate and T2 frigates with better than even odds for victory.

Solo frig pvp = comet. That simple really.

Basically yeah.

Welcome to Eve, the game where it takes at least 6 months of highly specialized training to not be completely useless. I biomassed and have tried to come back, but just couldn't bring myself to until they announced the SP selling item. Eve is the least newbie friendly MMO ever made.

Same issue with me (not PvP although the skills for PvP I had trained).

You should never really biomass a character that you've used for sometime. Because EvE is such a slow game to get into, you can easily start to get bored with it before you even really get that involved in it.

Of course if you actually were new then it would be somewhat different as you would have things to explore. Although it still takes a long time to get into.

I also agree with your comments. It isn't the most newbie friendly game.

One of the reasons people play an MMO is for the interaction with other players, even if that is just for the in-game chat. EvE doesn't really do well in that capacity either. The only chat that is even remotely useful is Rookie Help. In the past NPC corp chat wasn't too bad in fact it was better than some player corps. But now NPC corp. chat seems to be dead for the most part, I think the bounty system has a lot to do with that. There's been quite a few new players that have not liked having bounties placed on them for no other reason than they actually said something in chat (that something could just have been 'Hi').

Edit:

But anyway, I've realised I've gone off track, so I'll stop there.

This is just so wrong on so many levels.
It's true that EVE is very old-school and that if you're used to League of Legends or even World of Warcraft, you're in for a relatively long train to reach certain goals. But saying "completely useless" is ridiculous. Depending on what those goals are, from Day 1 if you're getting out and doing things, you're learning. If your goal is to gank things and wardec, you can do that pretty much immediately -- within the first week. If you want to be a mission runner, you can do that immediately. If you want to join a lowsec or nullsec group and get involved in all that -- you can -- and you'll be flying frigate tackle or EWAR at first until you can fly a cruiser, neither of which is useless unless you just have a terrible attitude and want to be in a battleship or something immediately. Kind of like wanting to jumping into arenas or raiding immediately after making your first character in another MMO.
