Please Fix CREST ( "connection closed" issues )

Hi,

First.. NO its not my connection, im on broadband, and wired.

I am trying to pull some info from CREST, about 20k requests.
It closes connection most of the time, its very slow, and its seriously unstable.

One time it is fine and quick (very rare), at other times its just sluggish.
And yet other times it just closes connection, even on the lowest 5 request per second settings.


Meh!

CREST a great resource, its just not working right.


Please CCP look into this.

now to more serious "unstable" and "hangs up": factual data is nice to get.

I am not saying there is no problem! just that giving more factual information, how much, how many, timing, some trace of your app that would timestamp data and help the devs understand vague words.

Right, good point.

When using CREST with Evernus, just pulling about 20k server requests.
At a 5 requests per second rate... Evernus is fine, the server just closes the connection.

If we can't pull at 5 requests per second rate, which is slowest possible rate.
We can consider CREST "seriously unusable".
CCP please fix this its been several months now.

And im defiantly not the only one.

I get info complaints about crest almost every day. It's extremely unstable. Sometimes it almost reaches the official limit without problems, sometimes you simply cannot get anything from it. Crest servers really like to either hang without any response or close the connection immediately.

Just some thoughts,

I assume a good part of the connection closes are because of a to big load on the CREST server so it chokes.

Closing connections isn't helping, since the people that get a closed connection just re-que to get there request pulls done.
This would actually create a lot of strain and would bottleneck the whole CREST server.
What is the actual reason of the connection closes CCP?

As far I can see, everyone should need a "Fixed ID" to log into the CREST server.
So people get in a proper line for server requests.
Perhaps make it so that all third party apps using CREST need to ID the user with the an API key.
That way the server can keep track of who is next in line "after a successful pull".

I realize people could just make more then one account to scan, and abuse the system that way.
If its not already like this, make it so that only paid or plex'd accounts can use CREST.
So trial accounts are left out that could save some strain on the CREST server.

Then you guys at CCP can make a better estimate on how much upgrading the system needs with todays server request demands.

Closing connections is simply an huge fail, but its happening about 95% of the time. (on 5 requests per second)
What a waste of server requests and bandwitdh that is!!

Since EVE Online is about what is happening around us, intel is vital, CREST is essential part of our daily gameplay.
For 14/month is it to much to ask for a working CREST? Please!?

Maybe I have a total wrong idea of how the whole CREST server isn't working.
I just like to get something done about it.

Can someone of CCP shed some "clear" light on the whole matter?
That would be nice!
