I can attest that it is disappointing how many potential good fights turn out to be someone baiting for the blob; they just have to hold point and survive long enough for said blob to land.

1v1's can happen but you have to learn the local environment and residents to learn who's interested in good fights and who just wants ganks. As for the rest, join a blob and beat them at their own game. If possible, pick a blob with supers.

Basically there is alot of bullshit and no-honor shitbags but you can have fun once you learn to avoid them. (Except the random instalock gatecamp, that joy is never entirely lost)

And whatever you do, DO NOT TRUST ANYBODY (especially goons!!).

If there are two ppl in local, assume they are connected.

Solo PVP, especially without links, drugs or HG implants, can be very challenging. I have recently been roaming low sec a lot more than in the past and have had a few good fights and a few gank/gank attempts.

The key that I rarely see talked about is managing the engagement envelope.

You need to be very clear regardless of what ship you are using what your engagement envelope is and how to manage it well. Can you do well jumping in a dual rep Incursus and brawling it out. Sure, but you have almost 0 ability to manage the engagement. Same can be said for a kity Tristan. Great ship, but if your prey is adept at killing off your drones pretty soon you end up with 0 damage output.

Personally, scram range kiting is my favorite as you are typically a very short distance from getting out of scram/web range if company shows up. Same can be said from long range kiting, but typically your DPS is pretty low in those ships. However, long range kiters provide the ability to take on more than one opponent.

Regardless, it all comes back to that all important engagement envelope management. Giving yourself the ability to pull range at will and manage the fight or flight response is key to more successful (true - you by yourself) solo (IMHO).

Will you drop in to a cloaky trap - yes.

Will you take bait that you cant manage - yes.

Will you tackle something that is linked and snaked to the point that you wont be able to get away - yes.

However, learning how to manage most engagements will mean that you are losing less and maybe even winning sometimes.

Have faith...he may yet post with his main, as he was encouraged to do (says he, posting with his alt).

When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading 'Guns and Ammo', masturbating in your own faeces...do you just stop and go, 'Wow! It is amazing how f*cking crazy I really am!'?

But he that is in battle slain, will never rise to fight again

Not quite true for EvE

To OP.

The biggest advice one can be given in EvE is : Get into a Corp and make some friends. The game turns out to be soooo mutch better if played with other people.

FW with friends is mutch more fun than going out solo vs links and gangs.
