And why I am not surprised...

Because you don't feel like your alone doing it, and assumed someone like Claudia would be open minded and also participate in your hidden Gallante fad escapades you secretly enjoy soo much?

(I'm joking, not lying...)

Forget the leaves! Bonfire at Kimmy's place, bring your birthday suit!

Welcome to the Federation, new citizen.

You are now just as opinionated as the rest of us, and also keen to ram your opinions down the throats of other people in public discourse.

Don't you just love cultural assimilation?

Yes. Libel. Thank you, sir.
Exactly.

I am beginning to suspect that this thread has nothing to do with weather at all.

What's the weather like in your region of space?

I know right? Here I am, trying my hardest not to bite my tongue and trigger everyone into an hissy-fit, and what do they do?

They don't even talk about the weather. Typical.

I'll have you know that the weather in Black Rise is very pleasant during my planetside trips.

In space, weather is other people.

Like:

"On Tuesday: FW roaming gangs in groups of 3 to 10. Some Goonswarm in the north and east, but mostly fair to the south. Slightly Marmitey around trade hub gates. On Wednesday: heavy CODE. precipitation, be careful while driving."

The leafy bits of the plants are falling off where I'm at. Perfect time to make leaf skirts and dance around fires....

Okay, so what is weather actually like? I've basically lived my whole life on stations and ships--I mean, I watch holoreels, I've vacationed planetside, I've been in rain and sun and snow, and I did spend a semester on Pator during my concentration although I was hardly outside. What is it like when there's clouds outside your window all week? When it's been snowing for months? How strong can storms get? What do animals do in weather? What does thunder really feel like? I've revered the Winds all my life but I've never walked the Kaalakiota peaks or felt the arctic air moving in. Does weather feel spiritual? Does the character of the air change? Does it smell?

But are they the right kind of leaves?

You would have to experience it for yourself, it IS amazing though. Especially the rain. The station biodomes don't do it justice... The feeling of sunlight is great too.

When I titled the thread as 'Talk about the weather', I was using it as an euphemism for small/empty/nonsense talk, as in talks about things nobody else actually cares about.

No, I don't think the Federation popular misconception about 'skirts of dried leaves' is serious enough to warrant a serious discussion about its implication. Yes, it's serious(ly annoying) enough to warrant a bowl of soup to the face.

The missus teased me relentlessly about the ridiculous skirts but that's a story for another time.
(It ends with the leaves being burnt and us roasting potatoes over the fire, if anyone wonders)

Speaking about actual weather...I only have vivid memories of six kinds of weathers: the intense dust storms of my childhood, literal firestorms, literal rains of fire and brimstone, hurricanes strong enough to shift entire outposts along the equator and plasma storms.

That last one actually cost me a clone.

Sure, until they fall off the skirts. Skip the skirts and just dance.

At least this hasn't devolved into one of those culinary threads by now.

Albeit, I suppose it's sane to expect a recipe for escargots au vin blanc by page four.

Please don't give anyone any ideas about the darn snails.
