Any idea what will happen to POS blueprints when citadels come?

I'm asking you guys if you have any idea of what will happen to all the structure and POS blueprints (BPO's) once the new citadels come?
Are they gonna be worthless, converted to module/citadel BPO's or just removed? Maybe reimbursed?

The thing is, I dont want to lose a ton of ISK by having dead BPO's in my hangar...

Maybe they'll be NPC repurchased back....you will not gain the full value of it ofcourse especially if the BPO was researched.

are POS's actually going? are citadels taking over things like moon mining and such?

I'm pretty sure that they are replacing POS. They've said that, as they phase in the citadels and their functions, the functions of stations and POS will be phased out.

Yes, citadels will replace POS structures in the future. The first thing CCP will do is to disable production/research/mining from POS and some time later they will remove them entirely.
And I have no idea what will happen to all my blueprints then.

Historically removed BPO are reimbursed at NPC base sell price.

All the time and ISK spent researching is lost.

Billions and billions sucked out of the economy in the blink of an eye. I would rather they convert the prints to whatever future version that might be put in.

POS tower BPOs are converted to:
small POS = medium citadel
medium and large converted to Large citadel

Weapons converted to weapons etc.

Converting a 500m ISK Large Tower BPO into a 70b ISK Large Citadel BPO isn't something you should expect or ask for.
You DO know what would happen if such an info would be leaked Big smile

Fuel BPO should be fine (10m ISK old BPO, 10m ISK new BPO)

If they stick with "BPO = raw material price x 10" most new weapon BPO will be between 200m up to 10b ISK (1b ISK if we ignore the doomsday) while todays POS weapon BPO are 25m - 100m ISK.

Btw, Citadels are the first structure to be released, labs, factories, drilling platforms etc. will follow later. Once all new structures are up and working and given a not specified time for players to adapt POS will be removed.

Don't expect to receive ISK for your BPO in 2015 or 2016. Once you get your ISK back the early birds will already have saturated the market.
Maybe you should try to sell your BPO now, hopefully finding someone not knowing about Citadels and stuff.

from a very old dev blog post

my best guess is that with start of the first grace period a buyback programm starts and existing blueprints become useless

CCP likes collectibles.

When CCP converted BPO in Crius, the only BPO of mine that didn't complete research in time was my Rorqual. That cost me 3.5 billion ISK to remedy. I think it has been the single most expensive research I've done.

I don't have any station related BPO, but I do have all the starbase related BPO. Although expensive to research, they were not as expensive as the Rorqual. However, what really pains me is the research TIME.

I currently have a CSAA BPO in research. It has been in research so long that I almost forgot about it.

Years of research down the drain.

People will still be buying the current POSes for a while I expect because it's going to take a while for people to train the necessary skills and then build their Citadel's. People will opt for the cheaper option for as long as it's available and feasible to use. Now's the right time to sell tower BPO's/BPC's imo

What I want to know is what about the faction towers? Its not like they have a "normal" price. Now those I could see doing the "large tower for medium citadel" trade.

Historically ...

* CCP buys-back BPO at NPC base sell price. All ISK and time spent on research is lost.
* CCP buys-back other items at an arbitrary market "average" price, sometimes established before changes are announced.

The most recent buy-back was in Phoebe 1.0, Released on Tuesday, November 4th 2014, where many invention and reverse-engineering items were removed.
