Exploration questions

My initial flirtation with exploration in high sec was a bit of a bust. So I took some of the advice and skilled up in order to run in low sec and for the most part it's been working out.I'm finding a lot of sites. The problem is that they are, overwhelmingly, gas, combat , and wormholes. I have been at it for about 2 weeks now and I have found exactly 2 relic and 2 data sites.

Is this normal? I'm not really equipped for gas, combat , and wormholes but I find them in abundance, you can't swing a dead cat without finding them. is this is the deal? 1 relic or data site for every 10 gas \ combat \ WH?

Second question. I was told to bookmark the sites I have found. I found a data site on my first day and I visit that book mark every day. So far I have yet to come across any of these sites that have respawned. For those experienced explorers what is the likelihood that you'll come across a bookmarked site that has respawned? Or am I confused about that and bookmarking and checking them them is a waste of time?

Finally what is the deal with the stingy distribution of Data and Relic sites? Why no love out there.

Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

Relic and Data sites are easy to do and skill for. There are so many people who do them, the pickings are rather low.

Most likely you are finding relatively few relic and data sites due to competition. If there is another explorer active in your local area even just a few minutes earlier than you, that can mean the difference between making 300m in a night and making 3m in a night.

I have never seen a site respawn at the exact same spot. I tend to bookmark the sites I find, but do not run myself, as a means of hunting other folks who try to run them.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Waste of time. Their only use is as a future safe spot.

If you run the same circuit each day you can make a list of the the signatures you've resolved so you don't waste time on them the next time you visit the system.
