Nesting Containers in Hangar

Hallo. It is me, Felton. Pleased to be meeting you.

I have tried to organize my toys by naming cargo containers in my hangar inventory. Is there any way to put a small container inside a big one so I can better organize? I have too too many containers for different things now.

Danke.

Nope. If you have your own corp you can use different corp hangars to sort your stuff and then place containers inside those, but you can't put containers inside other containers. I wouldn't recommend making your own corp just for that though, as it might discourage you from joining an established player corp, which is something I recommend for all new players!

Nope, can't be done.

You'll get an error of "You cannot put a Planck container inside another Planck container.", a nod to Max Planck, the father of quantum physics.

Some containers are bigger on the inside than they are on the outside, which suggests some quantum trickery with dimensions; for example the interior of Dr Who's TARDIS exists in a different dimension to the exterior, allowing it to be bigger on the inside than the exterior would suggest. Messing around with sticking objects that exist in multiple dimensions inside other objects that also exist in multiple dimensions probably isn't a good idea.

I used to put stuff in containers for the sake of organization, but I just don't think it is worth it anymore. I'd suggest using filters, or the search function instead. Being able to fit a ship from the fitting window requires stuff to be on the hangar floor anyways.

These days I have a generic loot can in my mission systems, and a can for blueprints where I research/manufacture. I also have a special can, but lets not talk about that one.

Mmmmmm... hallo to ya too sweet thang. I hear you be havin trouble stuffing thang in thangs. Mebbie ah ken help.

Mmmm.... yeah... jus liek dat... don' try to force Planck Generators into other Planck Generators. Creatin infinite storage, while so intriguin', won't be happenin cause the DEVs don't be belevin in dat stuff. Fo realzies.

So what you gonna hafta du is consolitate all yo stuff. Ah know it ain't as interestin... havin to commit ta so few... but it be a bettah life for you.
And you gonna have ta git creative too. ;-)

You cannot nest containers inside each other because of database reasons. Server can't take it, or something.

The smaller containers are actually space-saving (3900 m3 inside, 3000 m3 outside), so if you cram them into an industrial transport ship, you get a 30% bonus to how much you can haul. The bigger containers don't have this feature, and are there more for organizational purposes.

In any case, no containers inside other containers.

Filters are your friend.

The other day I was about to move a container, clicked and dragged and then changed my mind so I released the mouse button while hovering over the container I decided not to move.

The error message read "Physics says no. You cannot put a container inside itself."

I had a really good laugh at that error message. Thanks CCP programmer guy.

There's quite a few like that, you should check out some of the item descriptions too.
